Why does my Ipod sound like garbage on my brand new Eclipse HU?

Just had the HU installed, and everything is fine, but when I use my Ipod on the Aux in, it sounds like shit, it sounds extremely staticky and not good at all. CD and radio sounds fine though. I had the Ipod running through RCA's w/ my old Alpine HU and it sounded fine, now its running through a Mini Jack wire into the Mini Jack input and it sounds like crap. Could it be a bad wire, or a HU issue? Thanks!! Always has to be something with whenever i get shit put in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

I did, a local ship did it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif They couldn't figure out why it was statiky, everything is plugged in correctly. They said its either the HU or the wire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

weird, just read on another forum how nice ipod sounded on a 5435

Well, there is obviously a problem, either w/ the wire or HU itself. I plugged in a discman to it to, and it sounds the same, so its not the ipod. Its not that the sound quality is just not great, there is so much distortion and static it drowns out everything.

a new wire can't be that expensive, can it? just swap that out

Not at all, i just couldn't do it tonite becuase its late and nothing is open. Ill switch it tommorow and update you guys. Hopefully the wire is just shot and a new one will fix everything, this HU is freakin awesome and i hope i don't have to send it back because of a shotty aux in.

well dont know about the static, but regarding distortions my piece of advize is quite simple: remove every single and any equalization, bass boost or whatever Ipod has, let it run totally flat... make all the sound adjustments directly on the HU...

about the static im thinking its a bad ground or a bad hu...

Ipod only has 1 eq, and i have it disabled. And about the grounding, everything but the Aux in sounds fine, so i don't think its grounding. It distorts heavily at low volume too.

What did you expect? You got an iPod you ****ing tool.
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif It sounded FINE on my Alpine HU w/ a different wire. It doesn't sound just off, there is more static/distortion than actual music.
