I'm the same way. It's about becoming wrapped up in the experience...in my current vehicle, I've chose not to go all-out because it's simply not worth it - but at home, I want to be able to sit on the couch, spin up a record and just be there. Music is a release, music is a safe haven...and it takes a good playback system to get to that level of enlightenment.I love music. .....ok and I'm a tech.-geek. I love good engineering.

The attraction to vacuum tubes is more of the engineering thing - I love that 70 year old technology still works **** well in the 21st century, and really makes it accessible to us. I love to get my hands dirty in these things, and working on point-to-point wiring is about as straightforward as it gets. There's a satisfaction of taking a pile of parts and transforming it into a working, glowing, rocking piece of electronic art that you just don't get from plain, nondescript black boxes you find at the local Best Buy or Tweeter.
