why do my amps keep smoking

Ok my amps in my car keep on smoking.

this is my second amp in my car the first one smoked (dhd 1400)and went into protect

the second one (ap 1800) was smoking on my way home i stopped because i smelled something stinky and saw it was smoking so i horried and disconnected it.

I dont understand why they do this

i have 3 extra batteries (C&D ups-270r) in my trunk all wired up in parallel.

checked all wiring and it is correct

And idk why the second amp was smoking there wasnt even any subs hooked up.

can someone help thank you

check your wires again ,sounds like the power wire is grounded out somewhere

u mean like when i wired the battery bank it could be connected just maybe a positive and negative rubbed?

look for a cut or slice in the power wire ,usually happens where the wire comes thru the fire wall.

recheck the whole power wire ,if thats the issue then there will be a burnt spot on the jacket and wire

i think i found the problem. i was looking in my car and noticed the speaker wire pos and negative were touching and melting togeather

How are your speaker wires melting together? Iv never had that happen on a 1000 watt system.

the speaker wires were never hooked up to sub cause i pulled sub out and the ends of the speaker wires touched and melted togeather and its 12 gauge wire

So you went through 2 amps to discover this?

If that's the case your going to have problems with that amp probably sooner than latter
