Why did my sub blow?

so the 500w sub took 1k for about 20hrs. whats the problem? the question is not why? but when? and you got the answer. also agree with the clipped signal theory explained.

1000 watts for a 10 inch Type R is a lot man, just because a sub is rated to take 1000 watts RMS that doesn't mean it'll take that all day without overheating. I've pounded a pair of Eclipse SW9122s a few hours to the point where I can't even touch the magnet cause it'll burn my hands, I can only imagine how hot the coil was.

Also get someone to set your bass EQ/output level/gain on your deck AND the amp when you buy new subs.
