I do it too..

On anything real thick though, I use wire strippers. I cant do 12 gauge with my teeth.. I cut it a little first, then use my teeth.

I use my teeth if im sitting down and my wire strippers are more than a reaching distance. Anything larger than 12-14ga i just use a razor blade to cut the jacket and yank it off

My mma coach does haha, he's really good at it. I do it with my cheap 16/14 gauge some times. Now I have a proper wire stripper so that's easier.
