I set a budget with the car audio stuff, and so far I've stuck with it - especially with the Uberwoofer setup (Lanzar, Power Acoustik; c'mon... cheap, within the budget, and work just fine).

Home theatre ... I told myself no more than $300 in parts for the towers. Another $70 later for crossover parts, $15 for a new soldering iron, $26 for (2) 3" flared ports, $13 for two pair binding posts, and shipping ... looking at around the ~$460 mark, easily.

When I go over the budget, it has to be justified by either the priceerformance ratio, or the fact it has to be done right the first time so I don't wind up spending even more a week later because I'm not happy with it.

over the past 5 to 6 years i have probably spent well over $6000.00 and thats from switching amps, head unit, subs, component speakers and wiring.

Yes I paid too much for my JL setup. But finally can seat down and enjoy it.

car audio is like a drug to me. If it's cool and I want to give it a go... I'll most likely buy it.

I resell quite a bit of it once I'm done though.

overall.. probably spent ove 4k feeding my addiction.

Hell we all did. It's like a drug, you can't get enough.

I lucked out in the begining. For every grandchild that my grandparents had, they put $1000 into an account. Every year we'd get $10 on our birthday and $20 on xmas. When we turned 18, we got the rest. After interest it came out to just over $850. That was before ebay and online was even a thing. So that pretty much bought the bass end of things. Two 12" Lanzar PROs ( that was when they were the sh!t) and a Lanzar lrx200.

13 years later I have an Eclipse CD8455, a Phoenix Gold ZX450v2 (fronts) and a white modified ZPA0.3 (sub), Phoenix Gold basscube, Phoenix Gold Xenon X6.5 bi-amped, and a TREO SSi10.44

All in all, retailes $3275 w/o installation equipment. Paid $1700 w/o inst. equip.

car audio is addictive. i spent more then planned. i think after christmas when i get my amps and new components, i will be in about 3500 for the current setup, not including on the JL amps, arc EQ's, diamond components, other subs i tried out, lots of 4 gauge i ripped out, shit i dont know what else i wasted money on in this system. overall, when it is done and said i think i will have spent around 5-6k on my system including upgrades and previous setups.

Mine hasnt been to bad,

I bought a 15" Dayton DVC for 65 and a Kole Audio 720 watt amp for 125 so 190 total plus about 75-100 for wiring and box supplies. Then bought a Brahma @ 295 and sold the box, amp and dayton for 250 to buy a concept 1200 watt for 160. Then got some tickets and a suspended license and sold them for 275 and 175. So that made me down 45 dollars. Oh yea and my HU for 210 so im -255. Then i bought Mb Quarts comps for 175 and 100 dollars worth of thicker wire and distro blocks. so currently Ive spent 530 dollars on my system. and Im getting an amp for the comps for christmas and looking to buy a sub ~275 and a IA 20.1 or Orion 2500 for it so around 1530 in total.

now my boat, that thing is a money pit. in the currect setup, since we (installer and i) decided to ditch everything this year and started over almost from scratch, i think i have about 900 in the deck/EQ, about 600 on coaxials (with a deal), 250 in the sub, about 2200 in amps, 400 in batteries, probably 300 in wiring (lots of 1/0 power cable), i dont know what else, but there is a lot missing. i think overall it is about 6k with install. didnt do it myself.

Hey bamaboy, i respect the fact that you worked for all your equipment. I can't stand seeing rich kids in highschool 16 years old with complete JL setups that mommy and daddy bought for them. When i was 18 i was spending all my money on tattoos and performance parts. Now i'm 19 and just getting into the car audio scene, and i waited to see what was good and affordable "bang for the buck", instead of just jumping in the name-brand trends.

So far i have 1 HF BX 1605d ($230) 1 RE SX 15" ($240) 1 0Ga Amp Kit ($60) Getting 1 Custom Box ($150) 1 Alpine CDA-9851 (Free from brother). All of this total are shipping prices was $680.00 TOTAL.

Hell..i spent alil over 2500 just on my dvd and navi..bought retail.full warrenty and got it installed for free.though,i did give the guy a decent tip aswell.

just today i spend over 1000 bucks. two ed nine.1s and two re sx 15s, custom fiberglass enclosure and amp rack is costing almost 2000 including two layers of deadening in the entire car and all the wiring and intallation. bout 700 for a 200 amp alt, two yellow tops in the trunk and a red under the hood. less than a year ago i picked up a PCX 2400 from ppi for 800, 2 punch p3s, and a custom enclosure for 1300, infinity comps and 6x9 (not coaxial, just the woofer for mids) for 450, a year before that i bout two infinty perfect 12s for 400 and later picked up a fosgate amp (which sux balls) for like 400. so ive spent my fair share but you know what, it was all worth it. waaaaaannnnng

everything i have including my system and truck i worked for. my truck was paid for in full and i bought everything myself.

I have a Focal/Audison/Eclipse system, and no, I didn't think I spent too much. But my JMLab, JLAudio, LG DLP, home theater was a bit pricey.

what jl setup do you have for home audio? didn't know they were selling that stuff yet
