I would have to say, if I have to stay within those four Best Buy/Circuit City/Discount Store brands, they would go in this order:
1. JL Audio - best overall, but I hate working on them.... too many tiny parts...

2. Rockford Fosgate - The new stuff is good, I would even go as far as to say close tie with JL in most respects, the older stuff, is well, old, but okay....

3. Kicker - Probably the best bang for the buck in this group, but not the best quality IMO

4. Alpine - Do they make anything but PDX amps these days? I do not like the PDX amps, but I am biased, because I am a tech and I have to work on them and the little tiny PDX amps are a total bish to work on, and I don't think they sound good AT ALL. Full range Class D sucks IMO, give me Class A, or AB anyday over full range class D for SQ. Just IMO. I don't know everything, and don't claim to, just giving my opinion.

Those are the brands they sell at the major discount stores, like Best Buy, etc... though he left out Kenwood (yuk) not sure why.....

I'm running a kicker 400x1 on my sub right now. Just checking to see if it was worth upgrading to the alpine pdx amps.

Arc,zapco,older diamonds, older xtant,mcintosh,tru billet,helix,rainbow.out of the ones you have mentioned. Jl audio, rockford fosgate, kicker and alpine.

To each his own. I liked my Alpine 4.150, and I love my Eclipse XA4000. I can run them for hours and can't fry a steak on them afterwards. I've used class a/b amps in the past, but I guess I'm missing the difference in sound quality that you hear. LIke DB-R said, I'm no expert, but they work great in my setup.

I can agree with this but i think it is closer with kicker and RF than it is RF and JL...with that being said I WOULD use any of the 4.

mmats doesn't make amps with the most power, the biggest is 3500 watts,but there amps are efficient.I think they are the best amps. DD makes good amps too.

if your gonna say sundown.... you better mention.. Rd, Atomic, Clif Designs (iirrrccc) and a few others..... They all just slap there name on them.

you only going to get opinions whith a question like this. it would be a little bit of a better question if you asked what are some good amps that i could get for x amount of money?
