Hifonics BXi1208d-good amp?

The general consensus is they're solid amps for the money. They are a little over-rated, but extremely popular and there aren't too many reports of failure.

At 2 ohms you should have no problem getting 600-700w to that sub. And since the amp is 1 ohm stable it won't be running near its stress (low impedance) limit.

True statement, but only the 2010 models do rated.

i have installed over 10 of the 2010's and not one put out less than 2030 watts at 1ohm on a 30 second 50hz tone, maybe impedance rise or fall made the difference but they definately are alot stronger than the 08 and 06 models. I have a friend that does the testing for me and so far (in almost 10 yrs) he has never been wrong. I had a rf p6000bd that was supposedly birthsheeted at some ridiculous rating but his test proved it was accurate within 10 watts. so I definately trust him. He teaches EE at CSU and does the benching for free so I always take amps to him for it.

No, i actually saw a lo of you guys in the old school amp thread that had them, and figured i would take a peak. Last I knew we were all about the bang for the buck, right? ad they are sharp looking, and match the interior of my truck with all the blue lights.

I just bought the 1610 myself. I will be running it on two 2 ohm type r 12s in a ported box. Can't wait till tomara for it to arrive so i can get it installed. It should have my type r's humpin. Do you guys have any suggested settings for the amp? I will not be using the bass bOost

you can use the bass boost, just set it @ about the 9 oclock position to give you about 6db boost and use the remote for it, set the subsonic all the way to the right (unless you really want alot of 35Hz and below) and then use a dmm to set the gains. IIRC you want about 40-42 volts ac on the speaker leads to get 1400-1600 rms. N2 knows the math on that better than I do tho so ask him first. but set all your deck features first to what you like before you tune the amp. that way for songs that have low bass you can safely boost it a little. done correctly boost will never hurt anything, and yes guys go ahead and flame me now i have my nomex on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
