Who makes mids

I'm looking for some 6 to 7 inch mids...... not components, and not co-axials... just mids.

There don't seem to be a whole lot of manufacturers out there. I know of a few, but I want to really survey my options before buying. Most of what I find are either super high-end (scanspeak) or super low-end (goldwood).... Is there any middleground?

On a couple of the websites you can find companies that will sell just the mids. Partsexress has a butload but I do not know much about the brands they carry.

Dayton, Seas, Scanspeak, Peerless, Vifa, Usher, Max Fidelity (supposedly performance close to that of Dynaudio), Morel, etc etc. Plus those that req mentioned.

One thing to keep in mind; price alone is not a good indicator of performance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif A lot of the Vifa, Peerless, Dayton, Max Fidelity, etc products are pretty cheap, but are great performers.

just need to worry yourself about an active crossover so you can blend it with your sub\front stages.

I *think* the XM-5 can, but it is no longer in production

I agree, my first two crossovers were coustic. Back in the day amps did not come with them like they do now.

The CDT HD-6 is a very nice mid or can be used as midbass depending on what frequencies you feed it.

Considering I run the 6.5XXX mids, Naturally I would have to recommend them
