WHO has or HAD an Orion 250 HCCA ?

I have a hcca 250g4, IDK if this is the one you are talking about. From the posts it doesnt look like it.
Exactly how many different variants exist in the HCCA 250 series?

Could someone identify the specific model in the pic below ...

Both Gen 2. Should be internally bridgable. If it has a "MONO" pushbutton on the end, you're good.

All in all though there were 7 different models. The Gen1 and 1.5 if you want to call it that were the same internally but hte cosmetics were redone. The Gen2 added internal bridging capability. The Gen3 were the "pop-top" models and the first to have all set-screw wiring as well as filtering. The Gen4 were the "R" models with the last of the finned heatsinks and totally integrated filtering. The Gen4.5 were the G4 models; same as the previous internally with the different heatsink. The Gen5 were the G5 models, some internal tweaks and the end of the series. Not as reliable from what I understand as the previous versions (which could explain why mine has quit working and is the only amp I've ever had die on me).

Thanks for clearing that up! That pic is random that came up in google

Seems like there's only good things being said about the orions. Im confused whether its worth buying something thats over a decade old //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

thanks again

edit : im looking at a 225

Yeah seems like the gear' built solid!!!

Now the 225. Would these be good to drive medium/high end epeakers? Not in terms of power but the sound reproduction? I might look at getting a Hertz (not the entry level ) or maybe something nicer if i can afford

You will not be able to distinguish them from any other amp.
True, no need for high end amps here anyway !! Would I be able to run 4 speakers off this(225) with no complications... since its only a 2 channel.

I'd just recommend looking on eBay for decent used amps. A quality used amp would be a better buy than a new budget amp.
^^^ Iv considered this and thats why Im looking at going with the orions etc instead of a new scosche or jbl amp

There were systems back when SQ comps were based on 4 ohm power rating of an amp where there were 20+ speakers running off one 225. You won't have a front rear fader ability from your head unit, but wire the speakers in series and the amp won't break a sweat. It's made to run 8 pairs of 4 ohm speakers without having to resort to any creative wiring.

Thnaks man !

Im seriously considering getting a pair of the 225's and using them :

1 Bridged for my 15" sub

1 Front stage

Its either that or a new jbl/sony/scosche amp :|

Ani .. this is the loudest amplifier I have ever heard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just look into a Hifonics Brutus 1500D.

I own that amplifier.. It fried on me at one point in time, but none the less when compared to this HCCA 250. It couldnt touch it !!

I seriously think this amplifier is louder than every 1200Wrms, - 1500Wrms amplifier I have owned.

I just hate how it eats up my 100amp fuses. I am thinking I dont have the electrical system to feed this amplifier.

Heheh I feel you on that one... Im not in the USA though so all brands are not accessible. Stuff like hifonics is alost double price here and only a few series usually come up for sale.

Iv no need for anything to get intensely LOUD. Some good clean unclipped power will do. Iv got a 15" JBL sub. Looking into some new front drivers and maybe no rear stage at all. LOL

Cant seem to find any good 250g2s at the moment.
