Who has bought a Head unit from ebay?

Here's the thing, sellers with that many sales will lack customer service. I ran into one of those guys before, couldnt care less when I email etc.. The trick is to find a seller that's more than average seller but not that high where they actually care about their customers.
There are exceptions to every rule, however and I'm not certain of the accuracy of that statement as written.

I know of one seller who has massive amounts of feedback who has inarguably outstanding customer service.

Do an eBay search for the username bag-boy (exactly as I typed it with the hyphen) and have a look at his feedback. Should there be any wiring or related accessories you happen to need make a purchase from him. That will quickly disprove the theory that sellers with heaps of feedback lose all interest in CS once they have attained such high levels of feedback. Also - when looking at bag-boy's profile have a glance at the feedback number attributed to his account versus the number of feedback actually received. This is indicative of repeat customers (literally in the 10s of thousands at this point)

You don't get that many repeat customers by treating them shoddily //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I agree, I think he's one of the few with the exception of that many ratings and still maintain a good record. Personally thats the first time I've heard of that user (will add to favorite list thanks) But I've dealt with one of these high sellers before who werent up to par as that one you stated.

Look up indoaudio, he's in the 44K sells but check out his review ratio. Not looking good at all if you happen to be one of the unlucky ones. On top of that I found out he had another user id americaaudio (i found out it was the same company) Those are the ones you need to be aware of. But yea there are the very few who take their reputation serious and not just making sells, I agree.

I picked up a brand new in box Eclipse CD7000 on eBay about two weeks ago...it took about 5 days to arrive (from L.A.)...The seller's name was the12vkings and they answered any and all of my questions in a matter of hours. Paid ~$450 instead of the usual $700 for the deck and shipping was ~$25.

Everything went very well with them.

I've bought a Eclipse 8445 HU from 12VoltDeal and had a great experience. I've also bought two custom sub boxes off of e-bay and I will also buy my component set, subwoofer, and amps off of e-bay too.

In the end I will be able to get a $3500 dollar system for less than $1500 dollars... Find good sellers and add them to fav. seller list and you got the best bang for your buck...

Oh yeah, alot of authorized dealers discourage purchases from unauthorized dealers because unauthorized dealers get all their stuff from authorized dealers.

Authorized dealers buy in bulk to the point where they know they will have excessive stock and that's when they turn to unauthorized seller's and sell the overstocked units at the bulk cost which is usually about $50-$100 less than the going price of unauthorized dealers selling them on e-bay.

So you see authorized dealers will tell you not to go to unauthorized dealers because they want to make sure they sell their units first.

Imagine this, an eclipse CD7000 H/U goes for $700.00 on Crutchfield. You can get the same H/U on ebay for $485.00 shipped.... Crunchfield is getting about a $250 - $300 dollar profit per a H/U and the e-bay seller is getting about $50 - $150 dollar profit...

I say support unauthorized sellers.... Don't get me wrong Cructhfield is great and I buy stuff from them all the time just not H/U's Amps, EQ's, ect.

If so who did you go through and what was your experience? I'm getting more and more shied away from ebay as I hear of bad experiences.

Dont and i mean it..Dont buy it from IndoAudio or AmericanAudio...The ripped you of...

I bought my pioneer 780MP HU from an ebay seller (Sonic Electronix) who also have their own website and it went fine.

Again..look at their feedback and make sure they have their own website which u can also order from...this way u can tell that they are trustly and wont screw u up
