Who has bought a Head unit from ebay?

If so who did you go through and what was your experience? I'm getting more and more shied away from ebay as I hear of bad experiences.

I bought one about 5 years ago back when ebay wasn't full of ****ing scammers. deck still works wonderfull to this day. That was back in the day when I was learnin to install so I'm sure I put that poor Pioneer through hell

I'm always hesitate to buy used from ebay but as far as new stuff never had a problem. It all comes down to common sense and asking questions. If I'm unsure, I usually message the previous buyer etcc..

i bought a deck on ebay sometime in early 2005 pretty sure it was used then and seems to still be working now as GTO Zeta purchased it from me

I've purchased many headunits on eBay.. Sold a few there too.. No problems as long as you watch who you're dealing with..

well the units in question are new and seller has 99% feedback along with over 14,000 sales. I had just heard people had been screwed, getting units that didnt work and having problems exchanging them, because obviously these are not authorized dealers

Here's the thing, sellers with that many sales will lack customer service. I ran into one of those guys before, couldnt care less when I email etc.. The trick is to find a seller that's more than average seller but not that high where they actually care about their customers.

I ordered my Pioneer In-dash off of ebay and my transaction went very smooth...haven't had any problems with it...received it in excellent condition just as stated

My theory is let the buyer beware. There was no way I was going to get something as important as a head unit off of e-bay. For me I want to go to a reputable dealer so I can rest assured. I'm not saying you can't get a good deal off of e-bay by no means, but even with proper homework it is still a risk. Your head unit is the single most important part of your system. I have no problem paying for peace of mind and if anything goes wrong with the install other issues, they will take care of me.

What about people that have had problems warrenty wise, not neccessarily problems with the seller? If it busts it must be a PITA to send it back.

I got a smokin deal on an Eclipse cd3432. Demo model $30 and $20 to ship.

Granted its a 4 year old deck, and it didnt come with a box,manual,or mounting hardware, BUT Its as if someone took it out of the box, put it on a shelf covered with a cloth diaper for four years, then stuck it on Flea-bay. (like brand new)

The guy I bought it from was a real tool, all kinds of hassels with him not shipping it and so forth.

As far as Eclipse is concerned its a brand new deck that has never beeen registered and I got the full 3 year service on it....(even thou it was 4 years old)

Eclipse Rocks for service...not the fastest but good work and reasonable.....I bought a broken 5303 off ebay and sent it in to eclipse...for 75 dollars they fixed everything wrong with it....total cost with shipping both ways for a great 5303 $120.
