if you're really into it and have the means to build multiple boxes, I'd say try a few different setups and see which works best, good spl comes from testing and experience, persides, you never know until you've tried.

i can do that since i work at home depot i get 4'x8' mdf for $5.01 per sheet.I can fill my whole basement with cavalier fitted enclosures

I have had 2 cavaliers, one I currently drive is a 2002. I am running sealed right now facing the rear and is at its loudest. in my 99 I had them sealed off from the tunk and wasnt impressed at all. I was running Kove armagedons z series subs in a big ported box. I then did them facing up towards the lid. That was buy far the worst sound I had and took away some dbs on the mic. I then faced them backwards and that was the best for me in the cavalier. So on that note, face them back.

doesnt mean its best for him. i bet if u tried that design i suggested him, it would be louder.
