Which subs next...

I currently have 2 JL 12w3v2 DVC 2ohm subs in a sealed box (currently building a ported box). Rockford Fosgate T1000-1bd on them. My amp sheet says at 1 ohm it pushes 1250 watts.....so I am looking at 2 subs that will wire to 1ohm.

Here is the question.

1. 12's 13's or 15's? I listen to rap mainly, with some rock/metal at times. Like Pantera etc. I want SQL. The Jl's are pretty good, I dont mind which brand they are as long as they are not PoS's..lol.

I do not have a huge budget, so thinking 300 or less per speaker. Also, as I do the installs myself online retailers is usually what I go with if that matters.

I was looking at JL's new line of w3's, rockford PS3 or t1's, and FI BTL's so far. Anyone with some insight on which size sub would be best for me and maybe which brand they have experiences with?

This is going in a ford explorer

Thanks for all responses, they are all appreciated!

Edit: I forgot to mention. 4 12's or 2 15's was the main reasoning in that question. I want loud and deep...never had 2 15's before. I have had 4 12's in a S10 blow through bandpass box. I know how loud that was...

I wouldn't do the BTL. It's mainly SPL oriented. If the BL fits your budget do that. Maybe even the Q. I think you'll be happier with FI over rockford or JL. Also look at AudioQue. I think you will be pleased with their offerings and I'm sure you'll find something that will fit your budget.

Ok so FI, AudioQue are 2 that I will look at. Any other recommendations?

2 x Audioque SDC2.5

2 x JBL P-1222

2 x RE AUDIO SR

2 x Orion Hcca's

i say get some more wattage though, then you will have more options.

I would sell your fosgate and get a Audiopipe 3000d or something, then you can run some beefier subs..with only 1200w i wouldnt spend that much on subs, then just undepower them

Ok...

Fi = out.. I do not think I have the amp power for them. they do look good though

AudioQue = SDC2.5 12's $139 and 15's $159. Both are in my price range, and they say 600rms 1200max watts. My amp would be a good fit I think...

Still looking though.

I was looking at 2 x Audioque SDC2.5. They say 600rms... If my amp is 1200+ watts. Wouldnt that give roughly 600rms to each sub? Seems to be a good fit, unless I am looking at it wrong. I do not need to overpower anything. This is for daily driving, I just want the best for what its worth type of thing.

Of course I am not an expert, so I value your opinions and enjoy the advice!

well when you wire 2 subs to one amp you split the power between the 2 subs. so 600 + 600= 1200 rms 2400 peak..

i think they would be a good fit

make sure you build a box to there specs for best results!

or you could also go for SSA Dcon's

Just looked at the SSA Dcons. I think the AudioQ's were better so far.

Also, I have been looking around the site.. Does no one recommend any of the name brands like Fosgate / Kicker / JL or any of the like? Just curious

Prefer under 300 per speaker, and something that will work on the Rockford T1000-1 bd

I got the JL 12w3v2 in a good sealed for $150 on craigslist... I thought it was a good deal, they looked brand new so that is what Im using now.

kicker and fosgate are not what they use to be, use cheaper parts etc say when kicker subs were actually built in stillwater, fosgate is the same, if you can get your hands on some good old power hx2 jump on it man, those fusion subs are almost identical to the old power hx2's, there new stuff is just blah. jl makes good stuff dont get me wrong but for the price you pay their is so much better out their
