Which JL setup would be better?

Just to let you guys know, thanks for the advice. I checked the amp settings an they were set up like you suggested. This system was put in professionally so I'm sure they knew how to set it up. I will be getting rid of the stealthbox and the HD amp and replacing them with a JL Slash 1000/1V2 and a 13W7 in a custom built and tuned box to go where the 40 part of the rear seat folds up. The guy I'm dealing with said he would cover the box to match the seats so hopefully it will turn out nice. I believe the 13W7 will give me what im looking for.
A 13w7 in a properly ported enclosure rocks! My cousin has a single, ported 13w7 in his Chevy Colorado extended cab powered off an MTX 81000D and that is a lot of bass in that tiny truck.

You found out the common issue with Stealthboxes. Some of them are just designed to fit nice and sound OK. If you really want to rattle the fillings out of your teeth, you generally need to go with a custom setup over a drop-in solution.

OK so I got the 13W7 and a JL slash 1000/1 this past weekend and to be honest I think it would drown out 4 or 5 of the stealth boxes! It is amazing for only one sub! My rear seat is a 60 / 40 split so I took out the 40 side which is only like 20 inches wide any way and made a custom enclosure with a slotted port and downfired the W7. Its awesome!

^^^yes the RE SE do sound really nice for the price, they are more on hands with w6v2.^^^the RE XXX is more on par with the w7.

but since he already has the jl's he should try to work it out before spending more money.

the box does make the difference as well.
w7:

rms 1000

xmax 32mm

XXX:

rms 2000

xmax 54mm

the way i see it, the XXX is 2x as good. i think you fail.

I have four 10 inch w6v1's in my chevy crew cab. It sounds good enough for now and they fit behind the back seat. Where are you going to put the w7?

If you don't have a lot of money to play around with, definitely stay away from JL, they do make good products, but there is a lot better for 1/4 the price of anything that JL has retail. Look into the RE SE's, I have a pair of 12's, they get very loud, and they are as clear as the w7. And I got the pair for over half of what you can buy a used W7 for.
Ye because the RE SE Has a Flat BL Curve and handles the same power as a W7:rolleyes:

I had a XXX Re 2006 model sub was good 12" but compared to the 13.5 W7 with same power I didn't care for the XXX as much buth were outstanding but I did like the SQ of the 13.5 better, but are loud and get crazy, but unless your like some of the SPL guys that has more in the stereo than the car I would stick to what you like.

I love to see guys put $5K in a setup for SPL in a $500 vehicle. Just pure shit if you ask me...
