I have 2 12" Volfenhag subwoofers! Also I have some Kenwood 12" Subs! I need to know which is technically best, because I want the best system I can make with what I have. I've seen the kenwoods bump big time for others, but they never did that much for me. I felt like I was going to blow them when the Volf's could take the same heat without flaw. Maybe it was the way I was wiring idk im a noob with systems. I would like to know which is best here are the specs for both!

Kenwood 12" Specs:

12" Single 4 ohm KFC Series Car Subwoofer

Power Handling:

Peak: 1200 watts

RMS: 400 watts

Polypropylene cone woofer

Urethane foam surround

Linear spider design for increased excursion

Spring post terminals

Double stacked magnet

Frequency response: 39-300 Hz

Sensitivity: 86 dB

Volfenhag 12" Specs:

12" Dual 4 ohms Competition Subwoofer

Power Handling:

Peak: 1000 watts

RMS: 500 watts

Impedance: Dual 4 ohms

Reinforced aluminum curvilinear woofer

Oversized butyl rubber surround

5 spoke Die-cast aluminum basket

2 Flat ultra excursion

Double damper magnetic motor assembly

4 Layer Dual 4 Ohm high temperature black aluminum voice coil

160 oz. Double stacked ferrite magnet structure

Sensitivity: 90 dB

If I remember correctly, you were powering these subs with a two channel amp. If you wired the two Kenwoods(single 4 ohm voice coils) together, you were either getting an 8 or 2 ohm load. The amp you have isn't 2 ohm mono stable, and if you wired them at 8 ohms, you weren't getting crap for power. If you wired them separately(one per channel), you were still getting far less power than the two Volfenhag subs.

Anyway, they're both crap. If you're using the same amp, just use the Volfenhags.

Do you have a need for 2 sets of subs? If not, sell them both on CL and buy one decent set with the money.

I have 2 amps, a kenwood and a kicker.

Kenwood specs:

CEA Rated: 170W X 2 (1.0% THD+N) (4Ohm/2Ch)

• 250 Watts x 2 (2 ohm)/500 Watts x 1 (4 Ohm Bridged)

• High Quality Speaker Level Input

• Blue Illumination

• High-pass (12 dB per octave) and low-pass (24 dB per octave) filters variable from 50 to 200 Hz

• Variable Bass Boost Control(0-18 dB at 40 Hz)

• Cooling Fan

• MOSFET power supply

• Speaker-level inputs with signal sensing turn-on

• Preamp-level inputs and outputs

• Fuse rating: 40A x 1

Kicker specs:

85 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms

125 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms

250 watts RMS x 1 in bridged mode

unregulated Class A/B power supply offers a significant increase in power at 2 ohms

stereo or bridged mono output

4-ohm stable in bridged mode

Tri-Way capable

3-way protection circuitry

speaker- and preamp-level inputs

bass boost (0-18 dB) centered at 40 Hz

variable high-/low-pass crossover (50-200 Hz, 12 dB per octave)

frequency response 20-20,000 Hz

preamp outputs (pass full-range signal to another amp)

Then kenwood says 170 x 2 at 4 ohms so wouldn't that be decent? Still was weaker then my kicker and volf's tho. Any idea what the best combination of either of those subs and amps would be?

I was actually thinking of that just now. What do you think I could get for the sets each?

wow! im so excited! and I dont know why! but im just gonna continue to use exclamation points for no apparent reason!
Thanks for the help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

YOUR WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sell em bof! Sell your amps too and start over. Seriously brutha. You gots some weaka$$ shiz. We've all been noobs before. But someone like you has the benefit of all these nice folks telling you to sell your stuff and start over. Do it. Then look in the classifieds and put together a decent starter system. Otherwise throw the Volf's in a prefab and wonder why it sounds like a wet fart.

I'm going to sell everything on CL then. Thanks. The only problems is a lot of times people don't help me or respond to my threads so I'm stuck dead in the water. I have to say compared to my mustang forums I'm always on, this one has been a lot less responsive. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

You can keep the Kicker for a decent amp for your fronts but other than that you're not going to be happy with the stuff you have. Just be patient and do it a piece at a time if you have to. It's better than throwing a bunch of low end crap in your car. Ya dig? People are helpful on here if you some of the homework yourself. Just ask decent questions and you'll get decent answers.

Often times questions that are asked on here have been asked many times very recently and people get tired of answering the same questions all the time. Searching helps to answer many questions but obviously not all. People are generally more willing to help when people start a thread with i've done some research and narrowed it down, etc.

A couple weeks ago someone posted a thread asking which 6.5 inch components they should get for under $200. There were 2 other threads still on the first page of speakers with many replies asking the exact same question. Even the same budget. The poster wouldn't have even had to search, It was on the first page!!!

^^ beat me to it

I hear Kicker CVR's are pretty good, what do you think?
Sigh.... No. I've had a couple sets. So has everyone on here. They do get somewhat loud. That's about all they do. What are you going for anyway? Just want something loud? What part of Texas are you in? My brother in law in Austin is selling a set of 10" Dcons. Now there's some decent starter subs....
