Which HU should I get?

On the final stage of my setup, buying a HU. Which one seems to be the best?

I am just trying to use my iPod every day, and have some bass options. I will be using it with a 12" type r and 1200 watt hifonics amp

It doesn't. However, it features enough built-in processing for most systems out there. Also does not have USB or BT, but if you have an iPod you don't really have to worry about the former.

i just upgrade my head unit today, the Alpine CDA-9886 is awesome it come with Ipod adaptor and USB adaptor, the Alpine CDA- 9887 doesn't come with Ipod adaptor and it doesn't have USB and the adaptor for 9887 cost $30, i paid $249 at sonicelectronix.com.

Well if I trade in my current DEH-P6000UB at best buy for a $240 credit, is it worth the upgrade to the 9886+imprint? (Imprint is mandatory, I'm disgusted without an EQ.)

If it was built in, you wouldn't have to buy the kit.

The 9887 has T/A, 3-way crossovers, 5-band parametric EQ or 7-band graphic EQ. Don't bother with the 9886. If you're looking at that, you may as well save some dough and buy the 102.

If you want a decent EQ without paying a grip and you want to get an Alpine, get the 9887. The other Alpine HUs only offer bass and treble control, which is almost worthless. Plus, you can go active down the road if you'd like to. If you haven't read up on that yet, going active allows you to select your own speakers and set your own crossover points, slopes, etc. Pretty neat and the 9887 can do that out of the box.

if you get the 9886 then you should get the Imprint that will be perfect, i have a Arc Audio XEQ so i don't need the Imprint.

The sole thing the 9886 offers over the 9887 is the built-in USB. Since he's using an iPod and Alpine makes the cable for that, there's really no reason why he should get the 9886. Sorry, but the 9886 offers an EQ that is pretty much *** (bass and treble...that's it).

The 9887 goes for about $300 new on eBay.

the 9887 EQ will not work without the Imprint , you can go to Crutchfield and read comment and the 9886 is cheaper.

Where does it say it does not? Under audio features, it mentions the GEQ and PEQ.

Yes, the 9886 is cheaper. It has less sound processing built-in. That's to be expected. Point is, for $300 these guys can have a very nice HU that will last them a good while.

I got an Audiocontrol DQS for my EQ. Much better than using the head unit's EQ.
