Which crossover to use?

Curious which crossover I should be using. The one on my JL V2 Slash amps or the one within my Alpine 9887? I had told someone I was using the Alpine's and they said I should use the one on the amps as its better. Not sure I agree with that statement but wanted to get everyone opinion.

you can use both

set your head units HP to say 125hz and the amp to whatever you want

LP set at 80hz on head unit and whatever on the amp

Is there really any benefit to using both? I can get 24db slope on headunit and I think 18 on the amp.

I just went through this dilema and intuitively and on paper my decision was to use the xovers on my JL amps'

However I'm unable to turn off xovers on my headunit, at least for sub, so it's limiting my choices, since 80 on your HU and 80 on your amp might be different, i.e. 83.

Also I wanted to set my sub higher than most. I listen to alot of Jaz with alot of bass riffs and I want to hear them in a more powerfull and balanced way. It wasn't working at 80 so I tried to set it to 143 on my amp (as a first experiment to tweak on later) It sounded 10x better that way on my system, but I noticed that on my HU the highest I could go was 125, which means I was actually hitting 125 across the board.

In the end I ended up turning off the amp xovers and using the HU's.

I set mine at 125 for LP sub and 100 for HP 2ways.

It sounds awesome!

It's nice to be able to set a jazz song on repeat and just tweak it from the drivers seat.

I am 100% satisfied now that I have got this thing bumping at max quality for my ears and my vehicle.
