Hmmm... Interesting topic. I'm going to bring a different perspective to this thread , because I'm responsible for determining what brands my store carries , and why. Our store is different from the majority of car audio stores. We are definitively high-end , and so we don't carry a huge variety of lines. That being said , we have to be able to have something to offer at most customer's budgets , as long as it's not lower than we are comfortable with , in which we refer them elsewhere.
Because we depend on HEAVY word of mouth advertising and referrals , we simply MUST sell brands that are very practical , perform WELL above average , and simply have almost NO warranty issues. If we run in to many problems with a brand's dependability , it is gone VERY fast from our store !!
Without doubt , there is a manufacturer that is positioning itself to RULE the market , and force other manufacturers to race to catch up , and that company is Boston Acoustics.
Their newest innovations , and up-coming top secret products are simply AMAZING !! Subs that can be completely re-built by the user without even taking them from the enclosure they are in ....
6.5" component set speakers with 1" total excursion !! Waaay more bass from a standard 6.5" speaker ... No more need for using a 7 or 8" driver for great mid-bass in the front doors. Means NO modifications and expensive labor to get the same intensity a 8" driver will give you , from a 6.5" one !!
And even more things yet to be released that I'm not permitted to talk about yet.
Simply put : Boston Acoustics actually gets " it " .... Giving customers waaay more for their money.
It's kind of ironic this was brought up at this time , as I have actually been planning to write an article on my somewhat suprising experience with Boston amplifiers over the last 6 months. Look for that tonight.
Cheers !
