Which Amps are the "best"?

If it were up to me...i say go with a Alpine PDX 1.1000 for the sub and the PDX 4.150 for the comps. If not those then maybe the DLS Ultimate A6 for sub and Ultimate A4 for comps...of course it depends on what ohm sub you have when considering the DLS

Alpine used to be the amps to have when it came to sound quality about 5 years ago. When I first started into audio that is all I heard about in the car audio world. Alpine and Tru Tech. Today...meh, there is better IMO.

IMO look for oldskool USamps, Tru Tech, Zapco, Arc, ZED, etc...

my comps will consist of one or two sets of rainbow germs, not quite sure yet, just some good ole coax for rear fill. for now i have an alpine type x which i am sure will give good sq for a cd player i've got the alpine 9855 and i am buying pxa-h701 for more tuning capabilities

Then I honestly don't see any benefit of going with something like the SE over the XXK or FD (or something comparable..or even something a little less expensive). You don't need it's ability bandpass or it's adjustable slopes. You can't run balanced. The only real advantage you would gain is the ability to run 1ohm per channel....and there are other, much more reasonably priced amplifiers that also offer that ability should that be a feature you desire.

yea i think i might be sticking with jbl, power series, or even swap it out for some old school ppi amps

the sub will be run at 2 ohms, i am considering some PPI amps as well as sundown, although the last time i went with a new name to ME (massive) it wasnt the best experience, so I think i will keep looking for the arcs to come along, i was one click away from buying a 4150 last week, but had some shit come up, bummer....

What didn't you like about the Massive?
