Ok someone who lives above me in my apartment complex has seen me working on electronics on my front deck. , anyhow he brought to my attention that he had a amplifier and a subwoofer , a w13 , and low and behold a beautifull looks as if it was just manufactured bright red Orion HCCA 2100d . He explained to me , that he got them from a friend ((I think their stolen)) but anyways, after owning them for so long on one particular day he punched his sterio deck causing it to break . He takes it to a friends install shop local here in San Antonio to get the deck replaced with a ken wood. Later on within the day he recieves a call saying his amplifier went out. Now, what strikes me very odd about this is the fact it worked perfectly , I dont know the wiring config on the w13 JL , but the fact it worked , and all that happened to the system was a deck being broken and now the amplifiers negative power lead is melted as hell makes me wonder if the installer was maybe playing around with this old BEAST of an amplifier.

Im going to try to help him , and this is where you guys come in. I havent opened up the chassis yet to see whats burnt, if any power transistors are blown etc.. but im assuming the installer fkd it up looking at the marvelous condition to this amplifiers appearance. I let him know that ordering such parts to fix it would not be the easiest thing , and donig the repair myself wouldnt\shouldnt be difficult , but its going to be a nice cost to him due to the nature of the amplifier. My motive to you guys is problably Obvious. He paid 400$ for both the HCCA 2100d , and the JL w7 13" sub ((sounds phishy ehh )) . My intentions are to ask you guys who may know if this amplifier can be sent in to a repair shop , or ORION itself an d have them repair the unit or replace the board at a cost. What would the COST be ? Second , im going to pitch the cost of this repair to him hoping he will just give up hopes and want to throw it away in which I will sound to be helping him out , maybe even lie and say the repairs going to cost 300-400$ discouraging his desire to do so. In which then I will ((like the rest of you would)) , make an offer to buy it for a fast cheap price no more than 100$ Keep the amplifier , and send it in to get refurbished at the cost Im hoping one of you can tell me.

> With the post dramatized idea in my head that this amp could be mine. Hoping the cost to refurbish it is not alott ! I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED A KICK *** AMP like this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif It would mean I would need to buy a pair of H2's or a pair of DD's ((my two Dream pairs of subs)) . now I know this question is ahead of myself, and the amps not yet mine because I need a quote to price him at, But would such a large amplifier in a V8-Mercedes Benz I believe 90 amp alt be fine ? Or would MODS be encouraged ? These are also things im going to bring up to him . I just dont see how the guy who installed the sterio deck somehow damaged this amp since there was no physical change to the amp itself but just the sterio deck ((I THINK THATS BS, Something tells me that guy fkd around with this dudes amplifier and prolly trashed the power supply inside)).

With a quote from you guys with what I find out from looking inside the chassis at the board I will use to determine how im going to go about this. I WILL DEFINITELY KEEP YOU ALL POSTED //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If i get this amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .... omfg Ive never had the money for one of these till I just got the job im working at now to walk up on such a potential deal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

sorry for my personal anxiety . THanks for those who can help me on the quote , and in answering my questions.

Well its not mine . Its this guys in my apartment complex . He has seen me a few times working on integrated circuits and I guess he thought I could just magically fix the amplifier for him. I had no freegin ideal what kind of amp he was about to show me , but man it looks like a brand new Old School HCCA2100d ORION . He doesnt have a freegin clue about OHMS law, bridging subs etc.. ANYONE ide think , with an amplifier like that would know something about the seriousness of that amplifiers capabilities. Which makes me believe he got this amplifier stolen. He just told me he got mad at his chick one time and punched his clarion cd head unit. He said the system worked perfectly at that time untill he punched the head unit. Once he broke it , he just went to a installers shop which is someone he somewhat knows and said he left his vehicle there to get it installed while his girlfriend picked him up took him to work. He did this for a couple a days supposedly. The installer was doing this for him for free (supposedly) . He said the guy called him and said " Hey dude your amplifier went out ".

So I dont know if its the truth or not. I told him ide like to call the guy who did the install to talk to him. ((how the fk could you fk this amp up im thinking)).

Anyways .. if you notice. Im kind of wanting to know the quote for myself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :)

ONce "I" know how much its going to cost. I can tell him anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif make a cash offer for the amplifier without being obvious that I want the amp. My idea is to tell him the quote demographing him for not having the kind of money to match that cost , and then telling him. WEll " Ide like to have the amp myself .. if you want to send it in I can help you do that so you can get it fixxed , but if you dont want to pay that amount for the repair I will give you some cash for it right now , and when I get the money to get it repair I will do it " . Fact is I got MONEY IN THE BANK shorty whatcha drink.. Around 2g's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :) CHristmas Savings fund //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif LOL I wouldnt mind buying this for myself as my own Xmas Gift //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .

anyhow thats the situation. Right now , I just need to know how much its going to cost to get the thing refurbished or fixxed.

LOL your on my track Pimped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im going to offer as little as possible. Make a FAKE repair report for the quote to really exagerate the repair cost so that I could get it from him for even less. Im even going to go as far as taking ebay prints of other amps that are 2000Watts that he could get for what im going to offer. Like PILE .. lol .... of shit .. or Pyramid 2000W amps LOL...

But anyhow , you got the idea of what im after. ALLL I need to know is how much $$ its going to cost ME //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif to get this amp repaired. Im going to make an offer no matter what. I just dont know for myself where I can send it once I do buy it from him to get it repaired for myself. I am assuming once I have this amplifier repaired that it will be a long while before I can get the drivers to push with it , and I have never owned anything over a Hifonics 1500 Brutus and a 12" MOFO. That was the hardest most expensive system I ever owned so far. My experiance with orions was a Pair of old school 15" XTR's , on a Lanzar 128 2000W amp. Those pair of Xtrs slammed ! I still say they got LOUDER than my MOFO ever did. The mofo just made things rattle more when pulling up to peoples houses //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .

Depending on what is wrong with it, it may not be repairable at all. Course it could also be something simple like the 2 AGU fuses in the amp blew or even more simple like the fuse on the speaker wire harness blew. Worst case the power supply torroid got toasted and cooked part of the circuit board. First you'll play hell trying to find a torroid and then the circuit board will make the previous search look like the easiest thing you ever did.

BTW there never was a HCCA 2100D. It was a class A/B amp and did not have a D anywhere in the model number.

also orion wont touch it anymore other than to throw it in the trash these days. New owners, so the best they will do is might swap it for a new model that is "equivlent" to it

Thanks guys . OH well then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Maybe I just wont get off as cheap as I was hoping.

I really appreciate the knowledge base and options brought to me .
