Which amp should I use for kicker 12inch comp?

do some simple math with me...

137.5 x 2 =?? ...275...

275x2=??....550 and thats what the amp does rms is 550...depending on ohm load

all crunch model #'s are the max rating so 1/2 the max is the rms 550+550 = 1100 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and from the crunch amp im using right now i feel like im not using all the power...cuz its 700 watt amp but its came in the crunch box package so yeah. when i turn it up loud not to loud but a good amount my sub sounds all distorted but i know this kicker aint like that so im tryin to find a good amp for it so it sounds nice and clean..

if your only pushing one kicker comp 12, you need a amp that does 150rms @ 4 ohms. if you go much higher your risking blowing that sub.

and we really cannot tell you WHICH amp to get. the market is huge, many choices. pick out an amp, and run it by the forum and see what response you get. personally, with how cheap a comp is, you should go whead and get to, by a 300 watt rms amp @ 2 ohms. and no regardless of the stories that rms doubles from 4-2 ohms, most of the time it doesnt.

dont pay attention to max wattage, their "usually" lies. match the rms of the sub to an amp.

normally i would say dont buy a crap audio boss or pyle etc. but in this cirumstance pushing a low wattage, it really wont make a differnce.

thats where your amp came from... part of a diy kit

it is only 375rms at 2 ohms...your sub is 4 ohms... you are getting around 185 rms and thats it... thats why it sounds like crap...your overdriving that tiny amp trying to get volume that it cannot produce..

either that or your settings are all wacked out

problem is both amp choices you gave give you 500 rms you only need 250 rms... too much more and you will roast that sub...

that crunch sounds like a good choice. run it off ONE channel for the time being. dont pay attention to it supposed 1000 watts max. thats BS. the good thing about your choice of amp is, once you decide to break down and buy another kicker comp. 12, you can just add it on the other channel and it will work fine. so you have room for upgrade later. comps are cheap, but a really good starter sub. dont count on that amp putting out much more than 700 watts total AT BESt.
