Anyway, I've been listening to rap for about two years now, and not until about 6 months ago did i make the transition from the shitty mainstream to underground stuff, and drifting to rock a little bit more.

Most of the new stuff is shit, and there is no getting around it. Big record companies want money and they sign on shitty one-hit-wonders to get it.

No, I like my father's music and I think that our music blows. I mean, listen to The Who, and then listen to Soulja Boy and then try to tell me that Soulja Boy has any traces of talent.

That is a bit harsh of a comparison. While I agree, it's not even fair. I get more annoyed with bands making shit albums now, and slowly all sounding the ****ing same as the rest. The big bands had their shit albums, but they were far out numbered by their good ones. All new rock/metal sounds the same. Chugging riffs, downtuned guitars, boring, "me too" drumming.

All the big bands of yesteryear were at least their own ****ing sound. You know the Who when you hear them, or the Beatles, or the Stones, or Zeppelin, Floyd, etc. Disturbed, drowning pool, saliva, new korn, Lamb of God, Slipknot, etc all just **** a taint. Yet, they're the music people identify with anymore. The lyrics don't even try to be interesting, they just lay out the song's idea from the get go.

People don't want to think anymore. People don't want to hear new or different styles from their bands. CHANGE IS BAD. And when bands do try to change something now, it's a half assed attempt and laughable at best. However, I will listen to nu-metal over hair metal any day of the week.
