When is a system loud?

in my opinion if your above 140db consider yourself special //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

whenever u think its loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

On a side note, SPL to a mic is completely different than SPL to the ear. U may think one system is insanely loud, but to the mic it may meter that high.

hmm

when i did a 145, it was pretty darn loud. when i did a 147.1 it was plain sic. once you get over the 145 mark, it starts to get pretty crazy.

fyi - this is on the TL

Honestly ~125db will sound pretty loud to the ear. Not brain-rattling, but loud enough to impress people not familiar with extremely high-output systems. Up to about 140db is where the //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif start coming in when people listen to it, and you'll probably be one of the loudest in your area. Get over ~140db, and your into "my ears are still ringing" territory.

Or atleast that what my experiences have been. As mentioned, loudest on the mic doesn't equal the loudes to the ear though.

Took an audiology class, and the human threshhold for hearing is right around 140dB. This means that most people's ears start to physically hurt when you hit about 138 or 140 dB, so I would say well below that would be considered loud - of course, not to a mic.

i'd be happy if my daily driver setup hit ~140. my music is starting to drown out and i believe i am only doing like ~130-135. squeak you talk to Chris Norris yet about using his TL?
