whats wrong with this amp pics inside

amp is a 2ch. i see the burnt fet on one side but i dont see anything else. also whats a repair for something like this normally cost??? and is it really worth repairing?





















wires got super hot when hooked up to test it. unhooked everything and opened it right up. bought it off CL

So did you even have it hooked up long enough to see that it worked? Or did you kill the power as soon as the wires started getting hot? You have at least one toasty output transistor there. If I were working on that amp I would at minimum replace all the output transistors in that channel and possibly the emitter resistors,driver transistors,etc if needed. Not sure what I would charge for a repair like that as I don't know what output transistors they are using and ya never really know the extent of the issue until the amp is in your hands. If you got the amp for a reasonable price I would say its worth the repair. Looks like it does some decent power. If its not worth the hassle to ya I might be interested in buying it as is

I would say like 50-100 bucks for that repair. Largely depends on what kind of outputs they are using

Ok well thats not too bad lol. What kind of power could I expect from the board? Like does it look rather decent? Its from 2002. How much cohld the outputs cost?

Did you test it while the seller was present? I would have, can't trust anybody. Like we discussed in Pm's, they are stout amps, but share the board with the boss pd4000. Shouldn't cost much to fix, but you probably won't get your money back out of it, unless you want to hang onto it. Looks like an easy fix, but like you were saying, shipping both ways would be highway robbery. Maybe try a tv or computer repair store? I could probably fix it, but I'm not a professional by any means.

Im going to give it a shot with what spooney suggested. If it doesnt work I have a local guy who is 1000% awesome with car audio repairs. And yeah ill be using it a 4 or 2 ohms on some pro audios so no big deal. I actually really like it and am excited to try a supposedly awesome lanzar amp. Dealer cost was $600+ for this amp in 2002.

Honestly, I don't know what lanzar was thinking going with a BIG current hungry line of "High Current" class ab amps right in the middle of the rise of efficient class D sub amps.

$600 sounds more like the MSRP. I found several reviews of people picking them up for $194-220.
