now then he didn't say he wasn't happy with the x8 being identical with the xs lines but he said that they weren't happy with the results they got from the tests they ran not once did they mention what they was unhappy with. it could have been the motor, basket, magnet, vc copper, tinsel or anyone of those things or many others. if your soo set on how you'd make the speaker go make one urself.

i mentioned the compressed paper cone because ID made a select few idq8's for their competition guys... it was a dual 4ohm driver. nicest 8" i ever heard. very nice!

i've been dealing with ID for well over 10 years. i know everybody there. they might be getting on my nerves right now but i always come back to them. i've been stuck in limbo trying to do a full id system. alot of people in my position would be pissed to. i was told the XS8's were gonna be out 4 months ago.

how you like those new id amps... they draw alot of power? they look sexy as hell. my buddy was gonna run with those but he got sponsored by dls.

i love them. before i got those i had an all Eclipse setup and there's a huge world difference in sound. ya like most ab amps they do seem a lil power hungry especially since i have the 1200.1 ran one ohm. haven't yet clamped them to see what they are really pulling but i've seen my voltage go from 14.1 to 12.7 with one good bass drop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

they also made a few IDWs for some ppl but i don't see everyone telling them to go a diffrent route on the max's

I'm glad that companies like ID and SI take their time and try to perfect their products before release... would you rather they were the car audio version of Microsoft? I was planning to get a set of CXS62's to replace my Type X's untill I figured out my problem with them. Now I'm thinking an IDMax or an IDQ are in my future ( maybe after tax-time, I'm too busy trying to save up for our trip to Sandal's Dunn's River, Jamaica, in January

soooo... your saying that eric isn't happy with the result of the XS8? i thought it was a bad idea from the start making the XS8 identical to the the new XS line. i would've went with a compressed wooden paper cone. if it was me i'd make the XS8 totally unique to anything id ever produced

If we made the XS8 not look like the XS65, XS69 & XS57, then we would have a lone product with no thought or reason. It would be an anomol, almost like an afterthought with no family to go to.

The XS8 overall sounds incredible however, there were some things that Eric didn't not like about certain frequency ranges that effected the sound. So he is working on fixing the things HE doesn't like. Plain and simple if Eric is not happy with something about a product he designs, it WILL NOT get to market, period!

This whole thread has started to become a bash on Daath by others. I ask that you stop. He is frustrated and I can understand his frustration. I also understand that he is venting. He wants to build a system a specific way using a specific product. Unfortunately, the product, when tested, didn't meet our high standard of sound quality. If it had, the XS8 would have been released already. Things happen. When it is perfected, we will release it.
