it just gives you the final impedence...so its easier to locate an amp...

parallel is + and+ and - and -, series is plus and minus x2

In parallel, you combine both positives together and wire to the amp... then both negatives together and wire to the amp.

In series, you wire one coil's positive to the other coil's negative. Then you take the remaining positive and wire it to the amp... and the remaining negative and wire it to the amp.

neither! it depends on what your amp can handle and at what ohm you want the amp to operate at....
