Alright im kinda new to car audio. Im more of a computer builder/computer hardware geek myself. In forums like that there is plenty of compition, much like what you guys have going on with your SPL comps. The diffrence is that we try to educated everyone on how to get the most out of their setups, nobody with holds information, instead we try as hard as possible to educate everyone on what they could do to squeeze every last drop out of their video card, proccy, ram, or whatever. I cant count how many times people on this forum have stated that "most people dont have the know-how or intellegence to get XXXdb out of that sub." Why? Is it like grandmas and cooking recipies? Maybe i dont understand because ive been stationed overseas for the last 2 years and out of the loop. Why would you not let someone in on the best ways to optimize thier setup? Ive learned alot from this forum so far but its taken some serious reading and asking. So, how does it work? Are enclosure specs deeply guarded secrets? Im not accusing anyone or anything, im just asking becuase i really dont know. There seems to be alot of this, "figure it out yourself noob" attitude. Whats the deal? Ive read about people with one 12" sub hitting INSANE levels. What ive never read is how they did it. How does the information flow work? Am i missing the point? Again im not bashing anyone im just ignorant of this kinda stuff.

Yeah bro,

There's a lot of comments like that around here..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

But there's some really helpful people like PROWLER573 that will always help you in a good way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Very nice post.

IMO well at least for me, It's the way the question is asked. Or how the attitude of the asker is. If they represent a rude or arogant coupled with ignorant attitude, I don't waste my time helping.

But if a person is sincere and polite, I have no problem helping where I can.

There is a lot of immaturity on this board with a bunch of old/new members, and it is hard to adapt to that situation.

I'm still learning every now and then.

Soundsolutionsaudio.com is a great source of information and helpfull members.

It is hard to say how to get XX.X db because they

a) may lack the box building capabilities

b) have a different setup

c) have a different car

d) people want an answer, they are not willing to test for thier specific application

You guys are right and im feeling your point, you know what if someone asks me the right way ill tell em anything. There are some dudes here that, time after time reply to my posts with real answers, and go out of their way to help me out. And i cant thank you guys enough. Its sometimes hard to remember back to when you knew nothing about X subject, and be thoughtful and helpful, but i didnt mean to say that there arent people like that on this forum. If you look at any of my threads someone has always come along eventually and REALLY helped me. I just dont get the "I know this and you dont, so you ****" mentality. For those of you that have lended a hand, thank you. For those of you that dont, whats the deal?

I've always gotten help when I've asked , about box specs, ect

But yea, its extremely competitive, thats why people don't give out their "SPL secrets" to everytone

And i suppose to some degree i can understand that, but its more than that here. There seems to be this highschool kind of attitude that doesnt help anyone. I love figuring out things and then sharing it to help other people. Isnt the point to get as much information as you can? If you really want to get the most out of what you have you have to share what you have learned. It the underlying basis of an open forum. You want the best you can have? Then people have to communicate. To me i dont really care if you spend $XXXX on your system and can stomp mine in the dirt, but i do care that i dont have untapped resources just lying around.

IMO it is in everyone's best interest to proliferate the interest in car audio. But don't really expect anyone's "secret" to be readily shared either. But general info should be easily obtained.

this and the post above it hit the nail on the head. I try to answer question that i know, and don't post ones i don't. The difference between here and a Comp building forum is that your Video card will work the same if it's in a house or apartment. Simple variables can drastically change what your system will sound like and hit on the TL. So the "how do these sound" threads aren't all that answerable. I get people to respond to my questions pretty easily, the trick it to SEARCH for yourself. Not only search here but all over the web and how you ask is very important. Try not to ask what amp but more of "Will this amp be good, this is why i picked it, what would you recommend"

Also as stated, getting prowler into your thread will never be a bad thing.

I your help pumping **** hard out of my new comp lol
Homie, you im me with your specs and ill get you rolling. Ill put it this way. (OT WARNING)I have a 165 opteron (thats a dual core 1.8ghz) running at 2.9ghz. No thats not a typo. A fx-60 runs at 2.6Ghz. It cost like $1200, mine costs $230, watch me run circles around it.

I understand that every setup is diffrent, and that alot of people are lazy and just want answers handed to them. If your are not willing to do the work to get the answers, then no cookie for you.

I wish that you never, ever, sign back onto this forum..

and I mean that..

besides one should never give away their audio secrets.. that's just as bad as posting the your fav. fshing hole coordinates and wondering why there are 300 people fishing your special hole on sunday.

Also you are forgetting just about EVERY damn question has been answered on this forum @ one time or another, we just get tired of it being asked over and over..

Last what is stopping people from figuring it out on their own?
Lazy.. and they don't know how to use the search button.

Okay prime example...........I have NO IDEA what i have done to piss you off. I really dont. I dont talk crap, i dont spam, im polite, what is it that has gotten you screwed into the ceiling Expy? Put it out there dude. Im trying to learn, i will be the first to tell you i dont know a **** thing about car audio and the comp things that it comprises. But if you feel that strongly about me not coming back, hell hit me with whats on your mind. Ill do my best to pick up what youre putting down. I may have very well missed the point. Seems to me that youre awful pissed off for someone making a general observision. Let me know. Honestly, if i crossed a line and made you angry im sorry, that was never my intent.

yeah dude and ive been there, i do my best not to be one of those folks. But really, your blasting me because of what exactly? Im afraid im not following you.

You know what? Since ive made this thread i have had alot of IMs thrown my way about keeping the spirit of this forum alive, and about not dwelling on what haters will throw your way. People praising me for wanting to learn and challenging the way that this forum is known for doing things. Its sad that so many feel this way but dont say it publicly. Seems to me the whole, "im the man **** off" mind set doesnt hold the liquid as well as it once did. You guys that just wanna piss in peoples weathies, do your thing, but those of us that want to learn and master this craft will keep on helping one another. Be that guy if you want, but nobody, but nobody likes that guy.

you may not like him be hes the one taking home first place trophies this isnt overclocking a cpu where everyone has the exact same setup and cant get the number this is you build it to get loud and i for one will not tell you how i got loud PERIOD. its what i do to win. If i told you i might as well quit
