Or, when you take a blocked user off your list, it shows that you're online.

Most people still have the default window popup to tell them when someone's online.

Therefore, as soon as you unblocked him, he got a notice that you were online, and all he had to do was click that notice, type a message and hit return.

You're probably not nearly as important to him as you think you are.
