Whats the deal with RE and sales

Ok I have seen prices posted on here or ballpark prices for xxx's shipped that should or should not have been posted.

Long story short i tried to buy one by calling RE and found out there is a new shop near me that sells them. I called the shop and they dont even have any to listen to and could not tell me much about then except the sx 12 was like 379, and the sx 15 was like 429. The prices I have seen posted on here were the same for xxx's. Why would I want to buy anything from an up and comer shop that knows little about the product and i dont know if they will be around in a year. Plus pay a lot more.

sorry... RE is very protective of their B&M dealers..

you'll have to buy from them.. or not buy at all..

Direct Pricing from RE only applies when you don't have a dealer near you..

looks like adire brahma when in stock then, no way I pay the same money for sx as for a brahma, especially when the dealer near me seels for msrp and knows nothing about them

Well, you can always try and buy a used driver from someone, or have someone order it for you who doesn't have a dealer near them, and then have your friend ship it to you. That's a fairly annoying process, but it might allow you to get the driver at a lower overall cost, albeit with more effort being required.

If you are looking at the SX, you may want to check out the Soundsplinter RL-p. It offers more displacement than the SX for quite a bit less than that rather excessively high dealer price you were quoted. RL-p 15s are $254 before shipping, and will work for just about any application that the SX will.

Just a few options...

I want an Rl-p, but they dont make 15's in dual 2 ohm anymore

thanks for the help

I wasnt really complaining, I understand why they do it. Why would you want to undercut your own dealers. It just kind of frustrating cuz I have a thing about buying from a shop I know little about, I dont mind paying good money for good stuff.

If you think about it. RE is a pretty good company. I'm sure if they trust the shop to represent them they ought to be pretty good. Don't you think?

As recomended the Brahama, RL-p, Atlas near if not equal alternatives.

Even if the shop prints up flyers and hands them out at a car audio competition?

How about if those flyers read "Resident Engineering"? From what I've seen/heard there are more than one dumbass shop that carry RE. kind of sad really...

Just a sign of the company to me. Customer is #1 not the shops because in the end it is the customer that has to pay the price, whatever it is. Hell and the fact that they don't decisivly control the prices at which their product is sold is beyond me. Whenever someone has to choose between another woofer and theirs, the RE is way overpriced.........stupid. Sell cheap and make up the price in volume then offer end of year incentives based on total sales. Get the customer and stroke the retailer. Win, win.

I mean all the shop is doing is padding the price so that they can discount on an install to msrp at max. WTF? We as customers can't have our cake and eat to because business wants to eat it all. It should be a meeting halfway. Bullshit a$$ keystoning and worse. Hell the company I work for has retailers sell triple cost. Talk about screwing the customer.

I didn't notice all the other errors... I was to busy watching everyone walk around to the back of your van. Almost every single person went....
