I can only present a one sided argument as I have yet to here a XXX. But the Brahma is one of the best subs I have had the pleasure of owning. Very good SQ with some serious SPL. the brahma will perform better in a smaller enclosure, and i was told that the brahma SQ/SPL ratio is like 60/40, and for the XXX is 40/60. So the brahma will have better SQ, while the XXX has more bass.

Does the Idmax compare

I am more concered about SQ then sound

idmax has less low end, and requires a bigger box.

but also in what i've been told has a better midbass than both the brahma and XXX but that is just stuff i have heard from people. is this true or was i being fed b.s.??

yes, BUT...if youre gonna do a true sq system, you want to have gooood midbasses to start with. if youre getting midbass out of your sub, you need to change your crossover.
