This is idiotic.

I buy based on what the subwoofer sounds like first, and then if there are any installation-specific things that have to be satisfied (like mounting depth, enclosure volume, etc).

Do I hear the power rating? No.

As per request - i would Use other words to replace the

POLL UP

kekekekkekeke here a huge one for you :p

i agree that a sub should be choose by the Sound .

but there is also a consideration of what kinda range you need to run it with ..

so if you have a really good sounding sub at 100 rms . and you have a powerful amp at 1500 rms .- without some kinda guild you might end up blowing your sub .

while ths is really not a standard at choose sub .

a 1500 rms Mono block only give you about 900+ rms at 2 ohm load .

all this is just a one of the many data we consider while choosing .

of cos the $$$ is a importance factor also

why did i just vote on this
For the same reason as me? Something to do.

I voted on what subs and amps I have and have helped do installs on.

Probably the only reason a marketer is SOLEY concerned about watts is so that it can be plastered all over the packaging in big bright numbers to try and sell huge quantities to people that don't know any better shopping at "big box" retailers or eBay.

DejaWiz your comment is great

i will take note BRANDING the power rating as Fine print on the Boxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

serious . ok maybe not fine print .

If you had read my subwoofer making thread - my focus is not on power rating -

i am in fact only rating one of my tested subwoofer 600wrms

even after the test been done at

900 wrms operational for 120 min . before you see smoke .

1250 wrms operational for 240 sec . before the voice coil got damage .

But i think is good to underrate your product and let the user have the fun of finding it out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you are only rating one of your subs with a power number, then why make a poll such as this?

Where are the choices under a heading like "Things that are important to you?"

1. Surround material

2. Cone material

3. Basket construction

4. Magnet size

5. Magnet material

....And so on and so forth.

Sorry if this seems harsh, but when you ask for power preferences like that, it seems that you are wanting to produce a very cheap and chincy product in order to separate a lot of money from a lot of unknowledgable punk kids. And I think that's quite evident from your other thread containing your square sub knock-off, err, design.

If I'm off base here, prove it.
