I think everyone remembers the "good old days". That hot chick was all over you,music sounded better, smoke tasted better, you could party till 7am.

QFT! I guarantee you my single ported dd1010 has way more output than the two Kicker Comp 10s had back in the early 90s. Of course, I am running a lot more power to my dd1010, but amps have come a long way since the good old days too...

Just think, my dd1010 is in a 1.5 cubic ported box whereas each C10 required 1.5 cubic feet sealed to sound decent. I would be willing to bet that a pair of IDMAX 10s with 600 watts RMS going to each would really blow my old C10s powered by a Punch 150 away in a fraction of the airspace!

I cant really comment on old spl since I'm 21, but at a car show a couple of months ago, a guy had old rockford stuff in his van. I believe it was 8 12"s in wall with two old RF amps and old RF 4 channel and all that good stuff. That thing got silly low. Reminded me of Gmonks van.

No, sending stuff to build houses in Korea, China, and Taiwan killed car audio. Now all companies care about is the almighty dollar whereas in the 80s the USA made amplifiers were all about "spare no expense" components and their owners actually had a passion for car audio. The guts didn't look the best (i.e. Linear Power) but there were some kick ass amps from back in the day.

Get this, I have amplifiers from the late 80s and early 90s that still work whereas I went through two Memphis car audio amps in a one year time frame due to transistors working their way loose on the circuit board.

This is why I started this thread. I needed to be reminded of days when excellent car audio was made. There are good companies around like Sundown (jacob), atomic, and others but they are far and few between.
