i have a good computer, do i just buy a dvd burner? and dvd - rs, i want to be able to copy dvds, like ones i bought, isnt that possible? also maybe burn ones i DL from a buddy that has bought it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You need:
A DVD Burner

Media (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, or DVD+RW ... I recommend DVD+R)

Program(s) that allow you to copy the DVD to the hard drive

A Program to burn the disc image to a new disc

I use:

Lite-On LDW-451S

Maxell (Ricoh/Maxell) or Fujifilm (TY/Ricoh) DVD+Rs and Lite-On Booktype Utility to change the bitsetting to DVD-ROM

DVD X Copy Xpress to copy & burn movies

Nero Express or Alcohol 120% to burn downloaded movies

get dvdxcopy platinum if u want all the menus and stuff or just hte movie alone to burn. it sucks cause it takes too long and i dont wnat too run a pirate industry in my house.

dvdxcopy is no longer available. 321 studios was shut down. I personally use dvd decrypter and clonedvd. I am able to keep all the menus and then take out whatever I don't want (ie: other languages and subtitles).

You can just use nero recode. I hear that works really well, but it takes a while to do.

You can change the bitsetting on DVD+Rs so it reads as a DVD-ROM which makes them compatible with every DVD player on the market ...

Get DVD Shrink, i"m surprised it hasn't been mentioned, free program that will compress the DL dvd to the single layer that you can burn onto. You can also keep menus or get rid of them. Very simple to use then it burns with Nero.

You probably want DVD+R ... Dual Layer discs have twice the capacity, but are like 10x the price.
Get Taiyo Yuden or Ricoh DVD+Rs ...

new egg has neither, and so will the 4.7 gb work? i thought a regular dvd is like 8 gigs? will it fit
