What will do better; down or up

I was wondering what would do better with my box.... I have 2 10" Type R's and i have a 2000 Chevy Extended cab. The box will be built for under the back seat. I was wondering, whether i should build a downfiring box or an upfiring box. Either is possible, but what in everyone's opinions would be better? The box will be sealed just to let everyone know....

NO DOUBT...DOWNFIRE

This is one topic I can say I know very well!!!!!

I own a 1992 Ext Cab and debated this for years...TRUST ME THERE IS A **** GOOD REASON WHY THEY MAKE DOWNFIRES!!! EVERY CUSTOM ENCLOSURE FOR EXTENDED CAB TRUCKS...FROM JL to MTX to Q LOGIC..ALL Downfire for a good reason

I gotta a Veteran guy who has owned a shop for 30 years who honestly installs 50% of his systems in 1988-2004 Trucks...He showed me the LIGHT...The Downfires sound amazing..For some Reason the Straight fires sound Terrible in Trucks??? In Fact I have "NEVER" seen a "quality" system have straight fire subs, accept for maybe those guys with like 8 JL's in the whole rear portion of the cab...

I cannot emphasize it enugh....They made Downfires because of the Improvement..Thats the only reason ANYONE would create a Box that intentionally points the Subs down and out of the view of the Owner...ONLY BECAUSE IT SOUNDS SUPERIOR

Check these out..BEST AROUND I ASSURE YOU!!!

I am glad you pointed out that Thread DB Fan, I have not seen it before....With the Exception of a custom glass box...I have not seen any box as well manufactured as these PRO BOXX's...Only one spot in L.A. Proper even sells them and they are all Sold out...I don't mean to be on thier Jock..But It is the only box "MADE" for TRUCK guys...AND I LOVE IT...It can handle mass Power unlike JL stealths and MTX thunderforms...Probably the only "FOR SURE" component for my system is the PRO BOXX..Best custom enclosure ...ASIDE FROM $400 custom glass..Maybe..Hell, it even has section for rear seat lever and Magnet pockets...Gotta admit...Sprayliner on a sub enclosure is genius!!!

For the Pro Boxx it's not alot..maybe 4-6inches... But again..They may as well be sealed completely...The pictures do not really do these things justice..They are like 2" thick and weigh about 25 pounds...XLNT Manufacturing regardless of true hardware used!

It's a cliche to say this, but these box's are one of those "rare" Car Audio things that make people look dumb once they see and hear it in action...I did.

PERFECT ANALOGY..TO ME THESE DOWNFIRES SOUND LIKE THOSE BOSE ACOUSTIMASS SURROUND SET UPS IN YOUR HOUSE..A SUB SEALED INSIDE A BOX!!.IT ALMOST MAKES THE CAB OF THE TRUCK A SUB ENCLOSURE INSTAED OF AN ENCLOSURE INSIDE THE TRUCK???

Some people want more SPL but to me the more sealed the bass in a truck the tighter and more "FULL" the system sounds..you don't HEAR the bass "behind " you..it's with you

How Poetic Huh...LOL

dude, we have killed far too many brain cells through music to understand any of that jiberish.

I have my designs. Jmac went over it with me, put them into the BBP6 and my designs look **** good. Started construction today and will finish next week; i am leaving town friday morning early. I am taking pics to track my progress on the box, so you all will get to see it.... They will be downfiring with about .4" between the sub at Xmax and the floor. The 10" type R's will be getting 350 rms each. I cannot wait to finish this setup.... As a teenage kid, i have worked so many hours to buy all my shit, and i will finally get to reep the benefits. Carperting the box to match the seats and everything....gonna be hella sick

Yes, today, when i cut out one of the sides, to make sure the box wasnt too deep.... i took it to my truck, set it under the back seat to guage the space...and, to my pleasing... the thing ****ing fit with ease.....Nothing more rewarding that knowing your box you spent many hours fine tuning in design actually fits //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif
