My first system was in 1987 in a 1983 Camaro Z-28. I had an Alpine tape deck:laugh: with a 1/2 DIN Alpine EQ/x-over and it ran to (5) pyramid amplifiers:hilariou: that were actually all running active to, (2) tweets (2) 4" midrange on the 4x6 plates in the dash, and (2) tweets (2) 5.25" on 6x9 plates in he b-pillars. And then I ran the old Kicker box designed for the 80's Camaro (I'm sure some of you remember that box) from one of the amps. I disconnected the lame piezo horn tweets from that box which had (2) 8" subs and (2) 8" passive radiators:laugh:.
Hey, I was 16 and thought it was the shit. What 16 year old doesn't think they have the greatest system in the world?!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
I started out with a boss 160+160 watt 2 channel amp on a pair of 12" B-52 subs in a sealed box with some polk tweeters running in full range. on a alpine cd player! in 84 mercury lynx. sure seemed loud for back then?
The very first system was an old alpine tape player pull-out, Kenwood kac-921 and 2 10" house speakers sounded pretty good then. Of course it was in a hatchback and I always kept the cargo cover over it...lol This was in a 1980 Toyota celica supra back in 1992.
i was lucky enough to have my uncle give me his 2 12" L7s and PPi amp the longest one i think its PCX3200 or some sh!t like that, i bought
JVC Hu
Fosgate 5 1/4
pioneer 5 way 6x9
and a ghetto install.. lmao the hu was not bolted so i could jsut pull it out.. and the power wire i ran through the door through the corner of the fendr and hood,, you could see the wire.. thank god noone did anything to it... it was like 4 years ago... good times
It wasn't my 1st, but I had a CDX-U8000 too, Actually, I had two of them... I still have one brand new, still in the box, been opened, but never installed...
I also have a Sony Full Din Full Face EQ, that I bought to go with it... Also, still in the box, opened but never hooked up...
Just recently when I moved our new house I tossed out the CD changer that went with them, it was a CDX-U404, used the Uni-Link bus.... Wow, what memories... Makes me want to build an old school system... I still have 4 15" Kicker C-15-4s from the same time frame; I have that and a few other odds and end speakers, processers, relays, Circuit Breakers, etc...
2 12" L7s in a prefab with a brutus 1600 watt amp the only crappy thing about my system was my headunit which was a dual but it looked kinda cool which is why I bought it lol...
Let's see here My first system was in 2001. I had some P.O.S. Pioneer H/U which was about 4 yrs old, Speakers were Pioneer 4" in the dash, stock 6x9 in back. Amp was an Alpine MRD-301 or something like that, and the subs were 2 10" RF Punch Z in a prefab. Wasn't great, but it got the job done.
