what type of vinyl is used ?

The 4 way is called allsport, it's made by morbern. It's about twice the price of standard viny; it will run around 22-23 a yd before shipping. It's easier to install, but not THAT much easier. I use two way when I can to save money(I do upholstery, tho, so I have a bit more exp than most).

I get mine from a local supplier, but rochfordsupply.com is my go to place if they don't have what I need.

Yourautotrim sells keyston bros crap. It's one of the most popular "go to" suppliers out there, but everything I've ever tried to use from them has been garbage. I've always been reasonably happy with katzkin vinyl (don't care for their actual upholstery, but really can't fault the material),it's not 4 way, but that's never been an issue for me. although the color selection is limited.

(I also do upholstery)

cool guys, tell me what you use?

see right now im doing a full length center console thats boxy as my truck is boxy. its an 88 s10 blazer. so theres no big curves, only the edges are rounded.

so i can do 2-way. how well do these types of vinyl hold up ??

but this spring ill be redoing my door panels and i want to vinyl them. and they will be curvy to a point as i have 2-8" and 2-6.5" speakers.

never done upholstery, does not look hard, hell this is the only thing i have not dont on a car/truck. can rebuild engines,,tranys,,, body work anything except this well to this point.. lol

so i want to redo my hole interior myself as nobody touches my truck.

The two way is actually a bit more durable imo. The whole point of allsport is that it can stretch a lot. Well, the more you stretch it, the thinner the vinyl is, and is more prone to wear through. Also, allsport just seems softer. It IS very plush, tho. Nice feel to it. I used it on my boat a while back, and it attracts dirt and stains very very easily, compared to other vinyl. If you plan on securing the vinyl using glue, a cheap harbor freight spray paint gun, contact cement(dap weldwood is what I use) and an air compressor is the way to go. If using staples, do yourself a favor and buy a 22 gauge fine wire stapler, pneumatic of course. (that's if you follow through on the door panels. If you just want to test the waters, a can of super 77 adhesive or manual t50 stapler will get the job done)
