What the hell is this and how do I hook it up to my sub?

those wires do not look factory... looks like there was a previous after market amp/deck
I concur.

There must've been an amp and sub hooked up before.

So are you saying that the four wires and that other wire aren't factory? Do they look like they could be from an LOC? They do to me. But why are there four of them GOD ****IT?

UPDATE:

I traced down the four alien wires and found that they seem to be spliced into some speaker cable. Does that make sense?

My conclusion: this thing was hooked up to some sort of adapter, but then the adapter was taken out and the wiring was left. But why would this thing be spliced into speaker cable and where would the speaker cable be coming from? Very confusing.

bump? where are the people that were here earlier?
Demandy aren't we //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I hear you. I'm the same way when I want things figured out right now.

You need a Scosche converter box for the RCAs. Wire that into your factory wiring harness and there you go.

The people on the other forum said I should check the factory sub for an LOC.

**** my life. I was really pumped to fix this myself, but after seeing how annoying it is...not so much. Can't believe I thought I was going to install a sub into the stock location myself. I'm just dropping this off at a shop. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Meh, don't be too disappointed. I let a shop do my front and rear stage in my car. No way in hell was I tearing apart my Mercedes with the Bose system. It gets confusing really quick, and I didn't want to make a mistake.

You let a shop do your install? Car audio guy card is voided. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Anywho, it turns out that speaker wire is running to the OEM sub. I didn't see an LOC between the speaker wire and the OEM sub. I felt all around there. So, i take it the stock wiring was spliced with this speaker wire?

Ummm...Backstory:

04 Acura TL, just bought it.

Wired for sound, guessing there is an LOC somewhere?

In the picture, you will see a ground, power, remote, another flat (not round) black wire and these four wires I'm baffled by. They're color coded. I believe two are gray, one white, one white with a black stripe. The person who had them before had all the mini wires wrapped up into one. +, -?

If I don't get an answer soon, I'm going to shove all those wires into the positive side of my sub, and the black one into the neg.

Those are coming from either the deck or rear speakers

Used a high input source.

You could soldier RCA tips on em, or use a 4 pin high input connector avaliable on some amps.

Those 4 wire are just like having 2 RCA's for subs coming out of an aftermarket deck
