What sub/amp is better for me

I've been away for a while and it shows. For a start I listen to rock, metal, country, and classic rock. I am sold on a single type R Alpine in a seald box. But which one ? dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm. I'll either run the MRP-M500/300rms x 1 @ 4ohm / 500 rms x 1 @ 2 ohm. Or the MRP- M1000 amp. I really don't know which set up would give me my best bag for the buck. I just want as solid of bass (punch) as I can get. Nothing loose sounding. In either case do you think the MRP 1000 would be over kill for a single 12 ?

Thanks Steve

well 2 ohm subs vs 4 ohm subs has alot to do with wut kind of amp and how many subs u r planning on running for instanc u can run 4 dual 4s to a 2 ohm stable mono amp and they would read a 2 ohm load then wut ever amp u have u would divide the rms power by four then u would kno how many watts rms each sub is getting if u have more questions go to crutchfeild.com and go to wiring diagrams that will help alot
