Yeah, you have to stay ON TOP of the task manager or say byebye to your battery //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Not as bad as my Palm Pre though...I would have it fully charged in the morning, and not use it once until 7pm (like 10 hours or so later). When I would look at the battery life, it would be at 30%. That's about 7% battery life drained per hour of STANDBY USE. Nothing running in the background besides Push Email. And it was consistent between all 8+ Pre's that I had been through.
Task managers are absolutely useless they actually kill more battery life than without. You need to root your phone and hop on a smooth running rom. I have a droid x which has 7-8 hrs stock batt life now im getting 33 hours. Ditch the task mgrs it takes more power to keep restarting apps than it does to keep them running, think about it.

Or you can use a bloat freezing program like BloatFreezer or Titanium Backup Pro to freeze all the crap if you want to stay on the stock rom.

The 3GS is only $50 at AT&T...And don't act like it's some kind of relic at this point, it's still a relevant phone that stacks up well against comparably priced Android phones.

No, your point was that the iPhones would sell better if they weren't so expensive. I just proved that they aren't. Before the 3GS was $50, it was $100 ever since the launch of the 4.

What Apple SHOULD do is release a tactile keyboard phone. I work for AT&T, so I know how many people come in and want an iPhone, but won't get one because it lacks a tactile keyboard. Instead, they are looking to make a smaller iPhone. I hope they know what they are doing...HP/Palm is taking the same route as well.

I have the extended battery on my Droid 2. My phone can go uncharged with moderate usage for about 3 days. When I got it from Verizon, the extended life battery was the same price as the regular battery. I got it replaced under warranty, because I went through so many of the Samsung Omnia 2's. That phone was pretty cool, but it had so many problems. They kept on sending me a new Omnia 2, but they all had the same problems which were never fixed, so I paid $50 and got a brand new, just released Droid 2. I love the battery life on my Droid 2. Longest life than any phone I have ever had and it has a 1Ghz processor. I'd say my most favorite feature about the phone is that I can sync my Facebook up with my phone and it imports all of my friends from FB and all of their information including their FB picture, email addresses, home addresses if they have it listed, cell phone number, etc... Most of my phone numbers on my phone are from FB. Oh yeah, if you import your contacts and have your FB contacts, you can link them both together. Pretty awesome feature. Oh yeah, takes just a couple of clicks and you can upload a picture straight to your FB with the "Quick Upload" button. Easiest phone I have ever had to use too.
