Hey everybody I just had a quick question if someone can help me. I blew out my 6.5 and I think my 4x6 also. Last week I bought the alpine pdx f4 amp and spr17s components. I wanted to know what's better, to buy some 4x6 speakers our would it be possible to fit another spr17s in the back? I have a 06 silverado extended cab. Thanks.

It's more than likely possible to fit round speakers in the rear. Personally, and a fair number of others will agree, save the money on the rear stage. Focus more on the front stage and sub stage. If you absolutely have no intention of ever adding a sub(if you don't have have one), then go ahead and put round speakers in the rear. You will get better sound from them. Just not worth it to most with substages as, if not properly tuned, it can shift the entire soundstage in an unfavorable way.

So don't put any speaker where the 4x6 go?
Either don't put any speakers there. Or if you decide you'd prefer have speakers, just get some cheap ones. Definitely don't spend over $50 and just stick with the 4x6 for ease of installations since there is no reason to put any effort into your rear stage.

he is telling you exactly right.... you should listen to him.

especially in a P/U truck

I have a customer with an 02 Duramax and nothing in the rear spots and you would never know it because the front stage will kill you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

IMO, it's pointless because if you do hook them up to the amp, I'd recommend keeping those rear channels at a very low setting. That amp does 100x4@4ohm. Your front speakers are 110watt rms each. What I would probably do, but it'd have to be tested to make sure it'd work out, is bridge the left and right channels on the front speakers only. Like this, you should be able to keep your gain completely off or close to it, which amps always appreciate it. However, I don't what kind of input voltage you're sending to the amp, so bridging the channels may result in too much power for the speakers to handle. If that's the case, it will take under a minute to "unbridge it".

I don't know how they are going to install it or anything with the battery. But I got a optima yellow top and my ppi 2000watt amp connected already to it? Hey I also have another question, I've always had a sealed box and this one seems to be coming a part a bit, should I get a ported or sealed box? I've never had sealed? Its for 2 12" l7.....
