Hello all. I have a pretty loud system right now comprising off 2 mtx thunder 8000 12"s on a kicker cx1200.1 at 1 ohm. This amp is only solid at 2 and 4 ohms so I am aware of the damage I am doing, but it's extremely loud like this because they are DVC 4ohm subwoofers. They are in a 5 cubic foot 2 12" ported box. This is in a 2000 Buick lasabre and it's a pretty solid car so it absorbs a lot of the bass in the trunk but it is very loud. Like ringing ears and stuff falling off the window after a few minutes. It loves anywhere between 30hz and 55hz in this box so it's great for most decaf. Impersonally love it but there is a few problems. First I have a stock electrical system. I know it's ridiculous but I'm working on it. I have a 105 amp alternator that's brand new in there right now but I'm getting a 220 amp alternator this week as well as all 0 gauge for a big three upgrade which is a bit of a pain on a Buick with the battery under the seat. I may even put a xp950 xs power in the back eventually but for now this is it. The subwoofers are great. Like I said they are loud and sound clean. But they are about. A year old and have had their suspensions reglued twice. I'm thinking it's time to look for thier replacements. I'm looking for 2 12"s that will match this 5 cubic foot box and 1200 watt rms amp at 2ohms with the best SPL SQL as possible for price. I'm not looking for a x 12 that's going to require a battery bank in my trunk LOL. Although I am willing to throw one or 2 back there I just want a kick *** daily driver that's boarder line spl. I was originally thinking soundqubed hds3 12s or some American bass xfl or hd 12s. Maybe even sundown SA series 12s. What do you think? Of course my electrical system is a priority before getting more power hungry subs but any input is greatly appreciated. I also have a 2003 chevy tahoe that's in great shape from a fire department and because or that it already has raceways big enough for several zero gauge wires and I'm planning on putting some 15"s or 18"s in there for a more spl setup. Probably gonna need a 300 amp alternator though.lol
Thinking I can use my next subwoofer purchase here as a hint towards what to get for that system.
