I don't know who or where you got your car audio know how from, but you only need to look as far as the first post in this thread to get confirmation that I am indeed right and you are wrong. Just look at the specs:If 4 ohms stereo = 2 x 332 RMS, 8 ohms mono = 1 x 664 RMSIf 2 ohms stereo = 2 x 450 RMS, 4 ohms mono = 1 x 900 RMS
If 1 ohm stereo = 2 x 500 RMS, 2 ohms mono = 1 x 1000 RMS
4 ohms stereo = 8 ohms mono, 2 ohms stereo = 4 ohms mono, 1 ohm stereo = 2 ohms mono
Most amplifiers will not double output with half the resistance ... Most amplifiers will not halve output with double the resistance ...
If you hook your subwoofer up @ 8 ohms mono, according to your specs, it should receive 664 RMS ...
250rms @4ohms
450rms @2ohms
both ratings are in stereo
so if most amps don't double the power w/half the resistance, what would you call that? Sure, it's not exactly double, but close enough. Check any amp out, the rating at 2ohms will be double or nearly double the rating at 4ohms. And in this case, if you bridge it at 4ohms, the ratings jump up from 250 per ch to 900 coming out of the single channel.
So like I said before, doubling the impedance will not double the power, if anything, it'll put out less power due to the increased resistance.
