what makes the bass sound better outside car?

I misunderstood the question. I wasn't referring to louder standing right outside the car. I meant be able to hear the bass from farther away. I do not know if its true or not I have just been told that. They say its because 12s player higher and higher bass notes seem to travel farther.
That's not correct //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They may be able to play higher than a larger driver, but that doesn't mean you'd want to listen to it...under 100Hz, the point is moot...

perhaps in your case substitute older for more mature //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I don't know, maybe I'm just part of a shrinking minority on this forum, the one that thinks a stereo system should play music - and "music" implies more than subbass. It involves playing complex and dynamic pieces realistically and convincingly...sometimes, that does take a lot of power on the lower end. But it's much more of a balanced approach, and one that doesn't lend itself well to showing off to "dem boyz" or whoever else you feel to need to justify your penis length with.

I think SPL is fun at times, and part of me wants to wall off the van before I move on to something else - but I know something like that for daily use would be impractical and silly. But it does have its place //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think the same way about the car. It would be great to have a wall. It would be stupid to drive around town and meet ladies parents and they say "Why do you have a wall of subs" ya know...wish I was 16 and had the money + knowledge I do now. I could pull it off at 16, at 22 you have to be a bit more professional.

Booming down the street on a Monday morning full blast makes that basshead look like a bonafide idiot to those who care nothing about our passion

hahah thats me... the only way get in the mood for a long day of werk!

of course i never turn it up near my neighborhood or near where i work, or even in town really... but on the highway/freeway thats open territory i dont care if anyone can hear it... they prolly cant anyways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

reason for noise ordinances...people are little bitttches plain and simple. "oh i hear some bass" boo fcckin hoo man. do i care about being heard outside, hell no, but honestly unless your driving around a neighborhood at midnight blaring your system (which would make you a ***) its just some bass man. people need to stop *****ing about EVERYTHING. cant be heard more than 50 feet? come on, i can hear other peoples conversations from 50 feet away...

I like to be heard outside my truck, but not while driving down the road. The only time I usually crank it up is when there is some kid next to me blaring his shitty system, so I turn mine up to show him up. When Im at a stereo show where other people are showing theirs off, I will join in and show off mine. But as far as driving down the road and blasting it, I avoid doing it.
But there has been more that one occasion that some kid in my neighborhood drives by my house blasting his shit in the middle of the night. I have gotten out of bed because I knew which house was his, and parked outside and blaired a 40hz test tone in his drive way. And then drove off.
LOL! nice pimpin....gotta steal that one from you, i got some dudes in mind thats been pushin it....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I wish the noise ordinence was still 50 feet around here. lol. Even though there isnt much of a difference between 25 and 50 feet. But its still a difference

i came off a little rude inthat last post, sorry. all im sayin is that the reason for all these ordinances are because people have nothing better to do than complain. i mean, who is bass hurting? its not a weapon and its not dangerous (your ears might argue this, but to people...no). these laws are pretty ridiculous, much like laws that let burglars break into your home hurt themselves and sue you...and win the case! i mean ifyou really sit down and think about these noise ordinance laws...do they really make sense to you? like i said i can understand, if you do that shit through neighborhoods at midnight but otherwise, your doing nothing but *****ing. sorry

I can agree to disagree on the matter but this statement truely makes me sad. You think you can't install a 2kw sub/amp combo and not enjoy it yourself more then people outside. It's called sound deadening and truely helps YOU enjoy your music as loud as you want with minimal noise escaping.

Yea but it kinda point less...Why have all the power... U dont really need it if ur not in a comp. all those watts are useless...if your driving by yourself and u use all of them just for your self... 80-200 watts is all u really need if ur not tryin to show off...

IM TRYIN TO SHOW OFF...and i dont mean everyday cuz then it gets boring...IM talking about when the time is right...Not sitting at a red light next to 20 people...But when im out and everyone has theirs playing i want to play mine to...Thats how u meet people who love car audio as much as u do...Well where i live it is...how tha hell u gonna no if they have a system if u cant hear it out side...People dont want to hear oh u cant hear it out side but it hits hard inside...

i think if they can ban loud systems, they ought to be able to ban loud mufflers. Why? I live half a mile from a busy road and I can still hear the fart-cans on the ricers. I cant hear someone blaring their system from more than a block away. Fart cans are more annoying, too!
yup... i don't mind hearing a bit of mass... but you don't need to rattle houses through town... listen to it as a normal volume... then if you want to blow your ear drums turn it up outside of town...

Most of you people that say you roll your windows up and turn it down most of the time becasue of noise ordiance are either full of it or just dont want to admit to it. Hell I am 29 and when I want to blare it, I do. I mean I watch for what area I am in. Like I wouldnt bump it in the projects, but I like to be heard sometimes. I have won spl comps along with sq comps in different cars and installs. Sometimes people want to show off and sometimes people want to chill. I also cant stand the fawkers that bump it a 100 in the morning. Now that does piss me off.

I have a solve for the people who blair it at 1 in the morning. Read an earlier post I made in this thread.

Around here, most noise ordinances aren't taken seriously until 10PM or so...

I agree with you noise ordinances can be taken to an extreme - a good example of this is in Chapel Hill, where they banned blowers on the greens of golf courses because the neighbors thought it was too loud. Nevermind they elected to move next to a golf course, with full knowledge that these things were being used...and then they have the audacity to whine about the greens not being green anymore.

But I don't agree with you about bass being harmless - if you have an infant, I can see the annoyance in having people drive by your house playing their stereo irresponsibly.

Horrible English aside, that's not entirely correct.
