What makes Kicker so bad?

lol from what I hear dbzzzzz is not what he is going for lol from my own experience, lp makes excellent amps and the sound quality is outstanding on them, I would only expect the Blues speakers to be of the same quality.

on the lastest gen L7, it looks like the tinsel leads are made of rubber //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

From all the Kicker products I have owned they are ~ok. Put a L5 10" on a Powerbass 600.1 in gf's exploder and it was loud but within a week the coil snazzed up (and yes it was slightly overpowered but for 1 10" it was actually impressive for a week)

The mid-low end door speakers/comps aren't great sounding... fuzzy and muffled I.M.O...

never played with the amps but in a direct swap from a kicker 300.1 to a RF 300.1 on an L7 10" in my buddy's truck there was a noticeable power/output difference going from the kicker to the RF.

Also had 2 CVR 15"s (first setup i had in my yukon) and they got loud but I managed to make them stinky one night after a drunken excapade in Tallyho, FL after mad bar hopping/clubbing/attempting to shush the world @ redlights....

Mixed opinions here...

not made of rubber but encased in it like a speaker wire.

It's rubber coating to protect it against the elements and make sure there are no chance of the wires touching and create a short. Many subs have rubber coatings on their tinsel leads... even my super old Bazooka P. Miller.

Beyond say, Jacob, give me 1 company that has actually gone to the drawing board and spend time/money designing a truly new sub. Oh that's right, only Kicker (squares)
Memphis developed the LVS in the late 90's... the dual stacked basket is still used today.

Cerwin Vega revolutionized the SPL subwoofer with the Stroker... completely new designe and original tooling.

Pheonix Gold built the Cyclone... a subwoofer without the limitations of a voice coil.

Rockford Fogate DVC revolotionized the way we wire subwoofers today.

Aura built a 21" subwoofer without the added weight of a giant magnet by using a small neodium magnet instead.

These are just a few companies that pioneered a completely new design, or improved upon current designs already used.
