What makes a sub IB capable, what makes a good IB sub?

I want to run IB off the rear deck. I would love to know some good choices of drivers to do so with. I have a 6x9" hole in the back and would love to just be able to make a 3/4" baffle for them and drop them in with some deadening and everything. If not, i have a nice dremel and will cut to make it fit. I just want to know what some good brands, models, etc. i should look into before purchasing. I cant even think of a single idea.

are jl6w3s IB capable?

Look for a Qts between .5-.7, and an Fs somewhere between 35-45Hz or so. Big electrical power handling is not that important, but decent excursion is important. You will probably need more subwoofer cone area than you would think, as these systems do not naturally get as loud as a ported system. The bright side is that they do not require much power, so you can save some money on power and electrical upgrades and spend it on cone area. I run four tens in my Fairlane, and only use about 50 watts per driver.

this is why i am selling my idmax and trying to go smaller. Being loud to me is not such a big deal anymore. If the sub bass is about equal with my midbass, maybe a little louder i am fine. I was looking at getting 2 8"s (really 6.5"s), deadening the crap out of the rear deck, maybe throw a 1/2" baffle down and run like 100rms or less per driver. I dont have the skill, time, or understanding to make a baffle for the idmax so i am trying to take advantage of my empty rear deck.

IDQ8's handled subbass fine. Well as fine as an 8" version of a sub that already doesn't have tones of LFE would do. I agree they lend themselves more to midbass duties, and ID8's would be better simply due to more excursion, but IDQ8's WERE in fact designed and built to be subwoofers dont forget. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It was actually later realized they were so outstanding as dedicated midbass drivers. I still remember back when that was considered a 'semi-secret' with the team ID guys. lol
