What is up with Soundstream

Probably because they can and from a marketing stand point they have a level of amp for various budget and power needs. I have a buddy down in Ft Lauderdale, FL that is doing a full SS system for SBN, knowing him, it will be sic with great SQ.

Probably has to do with confusion so people will buy cheap POS amps which probably have a higher profit margin.

OOOK fine this is how it works

They have so many lines because of yes... the different build houses, and because of their targeting

THIS IS HOW THE LINES GO IN sq QUALITY

1. Human Reign (not being made anymore) Reference

2. Rubicon

3. Tarantula, Dtower, Stealth

4. Picasso, XXX

NOW I DON'T KNOW WHY I NEED TO KEEP REPEATING THIS!

All Soundstream series amps do rated, NONE OF THEM SHARE POWER ACOUSTIK build houses at all, Even the Picasso series does rated and is actually a pretty solid line, and it's the entry level series. Yes, it is true that some of the amps share the same or similar buildhouses as other Epsilon companies,...but you do need to realize the only OTHER one that SS shares with is Precision Power, which is currently being overhauled with all new products which the quality the PPI name brings.

Now, the reason why they have so many lines is because each line caters to a different market, XXX being the competition, the stealth and dtower for space saving, tarantula for the "go to" series etc.

As for sharing buildhouses with other manufacturers, All Series have their own boards which no other manufacturer uses, EXCEPT for the XXX-line.

Here's to better explain what Epsilon is. Epsilon owns the following brands:

Soundstream

PPI

Power Acoustik

Fahrenheit

SPL

The money makers of Epsilon are Power Acoustik, Fahrenheit, and SPL because they are for the mainstream market. PPI and Sounstream are their high end companies. Blah Blah Blah, I've heard it before, people saying "just because they make Power Acoustik everything is junk.". FALSE!! Do you know how much they make a year with PA? last year they made over 40 million on power acoustik, and only 7 million with Soundstream, and SS had more international sales than in the US. The only reason why they have PA is because it's the main money maker. Yes, they even admit that PA stuff is overatted, but it's targeted towards the people where the saying "ignorance is bliss" applies. Even then, PA STILL has better quality than pyle or boss, (with the overattings) I would love to see someone tell me to my face that they WOULDN'T do the same thing to make that much money.

The human reign is sadly not being made anymore,..one of the best sq amps on the market and they're discontinuing them because people wouldn't put the money out for them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif It was one thing when they had a $3K price tag because of the caste face that it had, ti cost them alone, $650+ for each caste.

Rubicons, the rubicon amps are actually the same amps as the Lil Wonder amps out now. Lil Wonder amps are only international and aren't really available in the states, and they were getting a demand for the amps because they were so good that they just changed around a few things cosmetically and dubbed it the new rubicon line because they lived up to the former name. The rubicons actually have better SQ and crossovers than the Tarantula

Do you know what the efficiency % is on the d-tower and rubicon amps?

well what kind? The monoblock D class compared to the A/B class?

the Dtowers are relatively high, I don't know the numbers off hand.

The Rubicons, 2 and 4 chans are somewhat above average for a a/b class.

I've used the Rub1.2500 before and I loved it, very solid amp, never got hot, 1/0 power, and awesome sq. If I was building a 12v system in my car, I'd be using those amps for my low end (I have 16v right now).

Thanks for the info, I might go ahead and give the Rubicons a try. Any idea how they stack up against Audioque and Sundown.

I don't believe you....They would be more specific about such things if that was their intention and if they all did rated.

More specific as to what? Why WOULDN'T they make them do rated? They already have PA making all the $$ so why would they intentionally make an inferior amp and put it under the Soundstream name, the one branch of Epsilon that holds quality to it's name?

Sure in the past (Since Epsilon has owned them) they had 1 or 2 amps that didn't do rated, namely the XXX-10,000D ... but that was it

Specific to exactly what the amp is. A buyer looks at a site and sees a **** ton of SS amps many of which claim the same power but at wide ranging prices, 2000w from SS can cost from like 250 to 500$ depending on the amp you get.
