What gauge wire for subs?

Whats up guys, I have (2) Orion Hcca 12.4s that i will be running 5000w rms to. Id like to use 8ga speaker wire from the subs to the amp but the inlet to the subs only allow for 12ga. will that be a problem?
also, what brand or kind of speaker wire do you guys reccomend?
i would just get the 8ga and just trim the wire down alittle so it will fit.

You can get a 50ft roll of audio techinx 8gauge wire for 16.50 shipped from ebay. Thats the cheapest 8gauge wire ive found so far and they are a good company as well

If i got 8gauge then i would have to trim a LOT cause with 2 runs of 12ga going into the sub it literally barely fits...

ok so i take it your jumping the subs and not running straight wires out. Then yea id just do the 12ga.

You'd be surprised how very little of an effect speaker wire has on a system. 12ga should be fine
You right but it does help cut down on box rise

there is audio technix 10 gauge you can do, you can also solder it directly onto the terminals if your going to keep the wiring as is. Seriously though you would do fine with true sized OFC 12 gauge as it is unless its a really long run from the amp.

i would install stall terminals/bolts to my box and run the wires to those then jump them on the outside, it keeps you from having to take the subs out the box to re wire if you changed the amp/ohm load.

my box is being built by dc creations that i found on this forum. anyone what what kind of terminals they use?
No idea, they might not even use terminals and leave it up to you. I just bought 3 sets of these: Binding posts

A bolt, locking nut, ring terminals, washers, and a wing nut makes for a very simple workaround if you don't want to spend money on terminals like that.
