What gauge for 2 shivas?

What gauge speaker wire will be the easiest to hook my shivas up to? So basically, what gauge would be the most convenient, without having to use any disconnects or anything like that.

anything 12-16 guage....I actually use 14 for my installs, works fine.

Unless you have unusually long speaker run lengths, or are using unheard of amounts of power, 12ga speaker wire is as big as you'll ever need, unless you are wanting to impress your friends with monster wires.

Big wire definitely looks cool. But you will not get any actual performance benifit from anything over 16 awg wire. Amplifiers are voltage source devices, so you don't need thick wire.

Remember guys, the output voltage on an amp is much greater than the 12-14.4v input it receives. As voltage increases, current capacity (amps) for any given wire size also goes up.

there is also resistance, capacitance, and inductance.

Bunch of voodoo IMO... but some eccentric HT guys will bet the farm that cat 5 cable has infinitely better SQ than regular ole 14ga speaker cable.

Well, dude, my dad has a spool of CAT 5 cable and I plan on getting a subwoofer soon. Should I just use that?
