depends. i use them to set amp gains. but you can use them to find rattles or break in a sub/speaker too

Just curious what running a test tone through your sub can tell you?
I have read that some use it to find the resonance of a vehicle. If your phone is connected to your system, you can play tones via signal generator off the app store. I sporadically play with it for shits and giggles to get my truck shaking like a rattle trap.
